Well, I picked up the World of Warcraft Battle Chest (including both WoW and WoW: The Burning Crusade, along with a couple of strategy guides that I didn't particularly want). I have a friend on the Alliance side that I play with, but not in the Horde. I also just started up a Draenei hunter, which is quite interesting. C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns is where everything needs to be put into.
But whether the addon will work or not, with your version of WoW, is another thing. I was a HUGE fan of the Gatherer addon until they stopped updating the versions to work with the current version of WoW.
However the real bugger is finding those that will 1. Work with WoW and 2. Not conflict with any other Addon.
My favorite addons are: Farm-It, Carbonite and Auctioneer.
