Hmmm.

1. Losing weight involves starvation. This is a basic reality; to lose weight you must burn more calories than you consume and there is just no way around that barring magic or super-science. Yeah, there are ways to lose the feeling of starvation, but the starvation has to be there.

2. The Kashi diet is a gimmick. The "Eat a monotonous diet and you'll lose weight" thing morphs into many forms and it would appear that this one tap-dances with madness.

3. Of course I'm hardly the one to give diet advice; the only way I've really lost weight is from being sick or being really depressed and really broke such that I was eating very little. Mind you, if I didn't have to do little things like work or interact with anybody I could probably lose weight readily; I'm quite capable of not eating for extended periods but I can't really function.

Having said all that, I'd have to think that any reasonable diet has to allow for occasional indulgences or else it won't last long enough to do any good. And yeah, simply cutting down on high calorie stuff like red meat and fried food actually should help.

4. What's a Charlie Bucket?

Maybe the workouts will help. I hope.

I didn't really think of it as a kashi diet, even though I used the word. It's more that the small-meals-every-three-hours thing seemed to be an awkward way to express it. And kashi sounded healthy. I'm definitely going to throw in a lot more variety, now.

Charlie Bucket? Did Roald Dahl live in vain?

Hmm. Okay, I just never thought about Charlie having a last name. :)

At some school or other we had the book read to us, and I saw the movie with Gene Wilder. Had no real desire to see the recent one; it looked, uhhh, somehow wrong. And (as many critics noted, but I thought independently) Johnny Depp seem to more than anything be playing Michael Jackson. Oh well...
