Busy day. I pulled some network cable for a local company today. Over the phone I estimated it'd take about an hour, being told it was 50-70' of cable. Two hours and 78 feet of network cable later, including a 6 foot cable to connect a machine to the wall-jack I wired, and after moving a desk, some tables holding break-time equipment, and a dozen ceiling tiles, I'm finally cleaning up my mess. I really shoulda done a walkthrough to give them a better estimate, but they insisted it happen today before 5pm. I plugged everything in and we have link and activity lights on both ends, but no network login info to actually test things out. It should work once the person actually using it shows up tomorrow, provided I connected the cable to the correct network router (it was the only one with a free jack, and it was pointed at several times by their staff).
So, an hour past my estimate, it's time to head back to the office, and hope the babysitter isn't ready to leave the critter on the curb. I go to leave the office to pick her up, and my car won't start. That's been the norm when the car gets warm after a trip across town, or longer, and I'm slowly narrowing down possible causes. I let my car sit for 20 minutes, and the babysitter was kind enough to swing by with the critter. I finally rolled into my driveway just before 7pm.
