Know what's fun and good for wasting time? Anagram stories! Pick a phrase, rearrange the letters in as many ways that make sense as you can think of, and create a plot outline that uses the results. I just spent the past hour on "I am in love", which yielded these fine anagrams:
I, Nova Mile ~ I, Vine Loam ~ I-I, Van Elmo ~ I, Olive-Man ~ O, vial mine! ~ I, Vile, moan ~ Evil in Mao ~ O, vain lime ~ O man, I live
This is a love story between Nova Mile, the wealthy socialite, and the painfully shy, stuttering gardener Van Elmo. But they both have a secret: Van is really the mild-mannered alter-ego of Olive-Man, while Nova is actually his arch-nemesis, the villain Vine Loam! When Nova was younger, she had a twin brother named Vile, who was supposed to carry on the family tradition of horticultural evil but who she saw die with a moan, after cutting himself with a shard of glass. Since then, Nova has had an unnatural obsession with glass vials, and has a whole laboratory full of them, all of which she is very possessive of. The lab is in her secret lair, which is the site of all her evil research and whose entrance is covered by a gigantic portrait of Chairman Mao. It is there that she creates a self-important monster made entirely of limes, who comes to life reluctantly and regretfully.
I think I probably spent too much time with this, and will realize tomorrow morning that it's not as funny as I think. But tonight, I inflict it upon you all! Mwahaha. Now go forth and create your own stories. Happy anagramming!
