Questions for homeowners
I think I'm fairly up to date on my homebuying stories. Which brings me to today, where I find I need more work done on the place. I'm hoping someone with a homewise brain might know the answer to these.
- It appears we've got a leak in the wall from what looks like seepage through the brick in the outer wall. How does one go about sealing brick? What sort of person would I hire to do so? Can normal humans buy something to seal brick, or does it need to (or should) be done by a professional?
- The front hallway shared by the two flats is bloody cold. I'm guessing it's just a draft through the gaps around the front door. Is there anything else it's likely to be? Something underfloor? What should I look for to buy to fill those gaps?
- Know any roofers you'd recommend? We need to put in a vent. The last lot we tried to come give us a quote never showed up or spoke to us again.
- We're thinking about getting a bike shed. Who would sell that sort of thing? I know homebase only sells crap ones.
