Sunday!

In just posting, I realised i never told you about my fantasticness of Sunday.

So Sunday, was Wing Training Day, which is basically where the whole wing goes to one RAF base and takes part in competitions. I don't know why it's called a training day, cause there's definaltely no training going on, thats all been going on for months before hand!

But anyway, I digress. So we all set off from Ross about 7.15. In the morning. On a Sunday. Ugh. Not helped by the fact I'd had about three hours sleep, and had a few drinky-poos the night before.
We got to Cosford about 9am and I had to run off to the briefing, which finished as I got there... But never mind.
First up was Josh for smartest cadet. No idea how he did, he didn't come first, but there we are. We had the smartest squadron last thing, which i thought was really unfair cause it was SO HOT. So we were all a bit sweaty and bedraggled by 4pm. [Bear in mind here the uniform is a long sleeved shirt, all the buttons done up and a tie done up to the top. And also the fact that we were in a heattrap of a car-park all day!] Don't know how we did in Smartest squadron, but we didn't win that either, so I don't care, haha.
First Aid was 2nd with Emma, Josh, Ben and Poppy doing it. I don't think they did very well by all accounts, but they can't have been as bad as me and Imy last year when out of four patients we 'killed' three, and sent the other into shock. Haha. That was hilarious...
Our main focus of the day was banner drill. We had been panicking about this for weeks. First off we left it too late really to start practising, and then Imy had to drop out cause she couldn't get the day off work, and then LAST WEEK Layton dropped out as well. So we had to train two new people up. Luckily it was the easiest jobs they had, so that was ok!
So on Sunday we had a few run throughs and then left it. At 13.00 we wandered over to the drill square, only to find to everyone's disgust that someone had parked on it.... Ok, so it was a car-park, but still. You'd have thought they'd have noticed people had been marching round on it all day...
So we did it, with a car parked right mack bang in the middle of where we needed to be. Needless to say it was shit. And we were really disappointed in ourselves as we marched off. HOWEVER, as we finished the guy came back and moved his car. So the corporal marking us asked if we could do it better than yet [yes], and did we want another shot now as the car had moved and everyone else had done it on a clear square [YES]! So we did it again, and even if I do say so myself we were AMAZING. It was the best we've ever done it, and I'm so proud of the boys! The corporal came over to us and said he was so pleased he gave us another shot, and we showed him it was deserved. So we were very happy with that :D

On to the Final Parade. This is the bit that everyone hates. You have to stand in uniform for over an hour in the sun, while Telford and Wrekin [aka Cheating] win all the awards. BORING.
First some officers were given awards, and no one listened while their lifestories were read out. Next came the awards for us! First one read out was for the best squadron in Herefordshire. AND IT WAS US!!! So unexpected! We all just sort of stood there for a few seconds after the said it then did a double-take. Haha. And then I had to go and talk to the Wing Commander to collect it. Telford and Cheating won most of the awards that day. The alwys do, hence the name. They don't actually cheat, but there's just so many of them they have a couple of people who are brilliant at everyone of the events. So yeah, it's gets kind of boring!
HOWEVER, Banner drill results were read out, and whilst Telford won 1st place WE CAME SECOND!!! I am so happy! That's pretty much as good as winning, since no one even cares if Telford win anymore :D:D
The rest of the parade passed in pretty much a happy, hot blur, and none of my [6] cadets fainted!
One more thing to say, to show how much I love some of my cadets - On Friday I'd helped in a charity carwash and burnt the backs of my legs. Our place in final parade meant the back of my legs were in the sun. The 2 cadets behind me saw how much it was hurting and shuffled over to make their shadows fall on my legs. Bless them, I love them, haha.
Then we all went home and had Burger King on the way home :D

For tl;dr - We are the best squadron in Herefordshire, and second best in the wing at banner drill, and I love 6 of my cadets :D
