First DOE Practice Exped.
We 'The Shaggy Sheep' (Nirali,Jane,Zara,Ceri,Lizzie,Jo and me) went on our first one day practice exped from Leith Hill to Leigh, mapped out to be a specified 10mile route. Firstly, i got under 6hrs sleep the night before coza my damn coughing>_< and woke up 20mins before Jane came to pick me up and i have to say i managed to get ready within that so *proud*
Okay, imagine a middle aged, tallish, semi-bald man. Now imagine a triangular island of grass in the middle of a random road by a phat turning circle/roundabout amongst countryside. Now imagine this man middle aged, tallish, semi-bald man with his hands in his pocket on this triangular island of grass in the middle of a random road by a phat turning circle/roundabout amongst countryside jumping up and down...all by himself. Yes, this is what we saw on the way to the start point *cracks up as Jo predicted*
Nehoo it started pretty bad bcoz no1 knew how to use a compass so we ended up taking the wrong route but by some miracle it joined onto our route at some point whenever that was. After under 5mins of walking Mrs Dare and Jo went to use the toilet i.e. bush...typical :P
Highlights: -Seeing a bunch of guys on DOE as well, who thought we were following them...which we weren't...
-I was trampy and peed in a bush properly for the first time, which i have to say requires the finest of skill...bit like a ski-sit, works your thigh muscles...guys couldn't master this art thats y God made it easy for them :P.
-Finding varities of (enough) excriment....well not so much a highlight, but the foulest and most i've smelt in 24hrs
-Found sheep *^-^*, they're so kewl :D
-Walking through mud brought back Reading fest mems :)
-We arrived exactly on time as scheduled at the pub
We took detours about 3 times and ended up walking roughly 15miles in 6hours. Came out pretty much in mint condition except for exhaustion and lil rubbing of my boots by my ankles... BUT I know how to use a compass now :D
So, one day down 2 more weekend expeds to go...The next being the weekend before GCSEs start o_o and the final finishing in the afternoon on the day of the prom O_O.
So i should really go and sleep now...x ciao x
