a birdhouse in your soul

a great weekend has just passed and a very busy week ensues, to be followed by a brief respite, followed by what is sure to be a stressful week.  to elaborate:

i went to atlanta this weekend for the SEC basketball tournament.  i was on my way there when the news broke about the guy that shot and killed three people in an atlanta courtroom, then escaped friday morning.  it was assumed that he had gotten out of town as fast as possible, but he never did and was finally caught on saturday.

other than that, the trip was excellent.  alabama won friday against ole miss, but lost against florida on saturday.  the worst part of the whole experiece was dealing with unbelievably annoying kentucky fans that showed up early for their game which followed the alabama/florida game.  they stood in front of people actually trying to watch the game in progress and went back and forth down the aisles where we were sitting.  this all sounds petty on my part, but given the circumstances and the frequency of transgressions, it was heinous.

i accompanied cynthia on several shopping excursions, but netted no purchases until paying a visit to criminal records, which came as no surprise.  friday night, we ate at bridgetown, marking my first visit there in a long time and saturday at cowtippers.  we were going to make an appearance at the bane/comeback kid/with honor show saturday night before heading home, but didn't for various reasons.  we were tired, the show was more than half over and apparently it was a mob scene.  i applaud the decision.

it was probably a good thing we lost saturday, so i wouldn't want to stay in atlanta until sunday.  i ended up getting lots of schoolwork done sunday afternoon, partly while enjoying a very springlike day on the UA quad and gorgas library steps.  then the rains came.

this week is "MBA week" here.  that is a nice blanket excuse for giving us several out-of-class activities to participate in.  fortunately, most should be pretty fun, including dinner at the university club on wednesday, a st.patrick's day crawfish boil (?) on thursday and a corporate visit to the braves and chick-fil-a in atlanta on friday.  of course, to go along with all that is a ton of homework for the first three days of this week.

this upcoming weekend should feature a visit from some of nashville's finest, among others.  it's also a-day weekend, so there should be plenty going on.  unfortunately, most of my free time will be spent studying finance, since we have a test on monday morning.  then i have an economics test next thursday.  after that is spring break, thus concluding a ridiculous stretch of up and down personal scheduling.
