Truth Hurts

The fact of the matter is I've never needed other people's acceptance. Probably one of the reasons I got into punk rock when I did was the way (it was thought) people were more open minded. As you get into the scene further and further you realize this open mindness you assumed everyone had is more like a cookie cutter cliche. Than as you age you get jaded and slowly remove yourself from the scene and from what you once was not only the soundtrack of your life but was your life.

I read this wonderful article in rolling stones this month about one of their first music reviewers. He was a true bohemian. Started by writing a folk zine educated Bob Dylan on Woodie Guthrie, supported Dylan's change to go electric hence isolating himself from the folk community, found the sex pistols on their first visit to the states, wrote respectable articles on "punk rock", tried to sign the modern lovers, did press for Bowie, signed acts on labels.

Back to my main point is it has always been the music for me.

Listening to

Neil Diamond 12 Songs
Tom Waits Orphans
Prince Buster on Tour
Atlantic Unearthed Soul Brothers
Brian Setzer Rockabilly Riot
Reckless Roots Rockers

Went to an awesome show @ the Sidebar friday w/the Stabones (entertaining as always), Charm City Saints, on the run, and Darkbuster. All great bands I def enjoyed the Saints and Darkbuster were quite an excellent suprise.

I have had the past 2 days off and it feels un real to have so much time off work. I'm enjoying it!
