I survived another week with 4 dj gigs.
Monday - another night @ Asylum. The people wanted the ska tunes so I obliged them with the tunes that make you happy, drink beer, and dance a lil pon di pool table.
Thursday - a pick up gig @ Shorty's. No crowd really except for Mike and Alan who were djing with me. Ryan and Rudy were also there hanging out but other than that the people in there were there from the previous dj's and stuck around. The place kind of didn't give us much of a break on the drinks and got paid nothing kinda crappy.
Friday - @ the Ottobar went really well. We had about 65-70 people. More than last time and the bands were all quite amazing. Brought some old 3rd wave tunes to mix into my usual mix of Jamaican tunes.
Saturday - @ my first wedding as a DJ. I spun a great set during dinner of just smooth ska/rocksteady and reggae. An older woman even came up and said how much she enjoyed the set and said that it was great to hear some ska and reggae. Really uplifiting music. Than after dinner I spun some wedding music including the YMCA and Chicken Dance and the Locomotion. Hah. I will never become a wedding dj. But I had a great time and it was quite fun. Michelle helped me out alot and kept me company and gave me some one else to make fun of the bad dancing by the adults.
Also I'm writing a novel.
