Tests, Test, and More Tests!!!
We have been in the midst of a pretty brutal test schedule. And we will continue having at least one exam a week up until we leave on break in December with the exception of one week. I also just made the unfortunate mistake of looking ahead in the calendar to next year as far as our spring break in March. It pretty much just keeps going like that. So now I know, there's not really any end in sight to The Grind.
Some reps from the NBOME (basically the board that will ultimately certify us as physicians after we pass more tests) is coming next week to talk to us about our Step 1 exams. These happen at the end of the second year and basically determine your future in terms of what residencies you will realistically be eligible for. And in a worst case scenario, if you fail Step 1 boards, you don't even get to go on to third year and start clinical rotations. In fact, if you fail twice, you basically get kicked out of school. So many years of the misery that is The Grind for nuthin.
So I will use this to be my motivation to get my ass back to studying Neuro. I am presently hanging on by a thread in this course and we have a quiz tomorrow that ought to be relatively easy points, so I really better not blow it. Easier said than done, as always.
