i'm finally feeling settled into my classes now in the sixth week of the term. now that i've passed the whole dark night of the soul moment i'm already looking forward to next fall/panicking about the end of this year. a few days ago i was sure i was going to drop the music major and now i'm completely reinvested. that's how things roll in seattle! i've been getting at least one new mst3k with each round of netflix deliveries, which probably isn't the most constructive use of the privilege, but whatever. this weekend we tried out our first rifftrax , which is a downloadable commentary by mike nelson and guests to be played along with a dvd. we watched roadhouse, which actually was enhanced in many ways (most of which by this robot-voiced character, "dis-embaudio", who periodically speaks a line in sycn with the movie so you know everything's working fine).
food not bombs was really good today, i stopped by this nice market near our house to pick up food from these other people who do a free food outfit through a church. one of the guys who was there seemed a little off-balance and refused to let me share his phone number with anyone else at food not bombs because he had to "look into their eyes" first. oh well, i got a good haul, including a whole bunch of strawberries which made the car smell delicious. there were only 4 people cooking today, but i got to talk with one of the "teacher"s from the anarchy about recording music, the east coast and the subtle authoritarian architecture of the emp. stir fry, curry potato and fruit salad were served.
and, this has been the sorest weekend of recent memory.  the landlord was unhappy with the appearance of the property so we spent a good portion of saturday fixing up the estate. there was seriously a metric shit-ton of yard work to be done and by the end of it most of us were palpably angered at our compulsory participation. i, for one, was able to blow off some steam immediately by going out and buying some records with my tax return. i finally got the new high llamas, also the hold steady "separation sunday", isan "plans drawn in pencil" and badly drawn boy's "hour of the bewilderbeast" (!!!). cathy also spotted a free elvis costello promo 7" with a demo of "welcome to the working week" and "lover's walk" for some kind of collection coming out.
chid prom sucked.
i'll see you all in vancouver this weekend
