If we are painstaking about this phase in our development (ninth step), we will be amazed before we are halfway through.
We are going to know a new freedom and a new happiness.
We will not regret the past nor wish to shut the door on it.
We will comprehend the word serenity and we will know peace.
No matter how far down the scale we have gone, we will see how our experience can benefit others.
That feeling of uselessness and self-pity will disappear.
We will lose interest in selfish things and gain interest in our fellows.
Self-seeking will slip away.
Our whole attitude and outlook on life will change.
Fear of people and of economic insecurity will leave us.
We will intuitively know how to handle situations which used to baffle us.
We will suddenly realize that God is doing for us what we could not do for ourselves.
Thank you,
reginaterrae for the reminder!
Eleven promises; or, if i count amazement (Awe) as a promise, twelve. Twelve promises to match the 12 Steps, the 12 Traditions, and the 12 "organizational guidelines" (i can't remember how they were labeled) Most of these promises have been more or less fulfilled in my life and 12 step programs were a big part of the reason for that..
I feel free and happy. I didn't thirty years agol
I no longer regret past mistakes, misfortunes, or hurts.
I have know serenity.
I have been able to help others because of my experiences
Though retired, i feel less useless and more needed
I think i have become less selfish and more compassionate.
My attitude in the middle of a 181 degree turn
Social and economic fears are long gone (partly, i admit, because i have more money)
And i do handle situations much better because....
I am more in tune with the Universe... and because of this...
I am in awe.
