Imagine a dozen sculptures, formed by nature, each similar enough to the others to be members of a family, each facing a lake at sunset, heads bowed as though in prayer.  "A congregation of animal spirits," T. C. McCluhan calls them in Cathedrals of the Spirit.  Rock formations can be awesome, but this is my favorite, though so far I have only seen photographs of it.  I imagine myself sitting above it, (or below it or within it if the terrain permits, watching as the sun and the moon float around it, changing my perspective as a day and a night.  It is isolated enough and mostly unknown to tourists so there is a chance that I might have them to myself for a day or a part of a day.  What will I learn, perhaps nothing, but the trip will not have been wasted.  I must do it soon, before my age and arthritis overtake my hiking and climbing ability.
