There are two books at least whose introductions impressed me enough that they seemed to overshadow the rest of the book. One was Mirabai Starr's introduction to her translation of John of the Cross' Dark Night of the Soul. The other was Eknath Easwaran's introduction to God Makes the Rivers to Flow (behind the link). It was my intent to post several snippets over a period of time, but the webpage did not allow me to cut and paste in the simplified and only way i know how. So here is the whole thing.
