But when the work of two is done by one out of love...the burden is that much lighter, even though aggravating moments can't be avoided. I remember my dad caring for my mom for 20 long years after her stroke. She became completely dependent and lost most of her mobility. I am very grateful for that lesson in love and loyalty.
I agree with Dianne. Many men (and women) wouldn't do what you and my Dad are doing/did. However, if there is a lifetime of love and dedication it does make it easier. When my dad passed away (before my mother did) and we had to put her in a nursing home permanently, one of the aids there told me (and she never knew my father except for the last few days of his life as he insisted on dying in the facility where my mother had been placed while he was ill)that when she found out he had cared for my mother AT HOME day and night for 20 years, she was in awe of his loyalty and love.

Did you rage against the dying of the light?

No, nor against the transience of enlightenment. :)
But i will only go gentle into "that good night" if Dianne goes first. (and she will go gently).
