Bobby, Reading this now on Saturday and hoping your surgery went well yesterday and you are recouping today and the days to come will bring renewed strength and energy. I am glad you found relative calm prior to surgery. I have difficulty achieving calm in the most routine health related issues. I will watch with great interest your entries to know of your progress. Peace be with you. Jeff
Thank you for your blessing, Jeff. The surgery apparently went off without a hitch, This morning i am having relatively little pain and much gratitude, I was anxious for a while yesterday because i could not contact Dianne by phone; but even that anxiety was at a very low level. All seems to have gone well
Being very slow, I've only recently been coming to terms with realizing that an awful lot of people really and truly do act as they believe that their capacity to love is a constant-- and probably do believe that, in some sense.
In 1996 Sheeyun told me a story of undergraduate friends of his who'd climbed Mount Washington, found that the weather changed adversely, and had to be rescued. He said that part of why they'd needed rescue was that they "hated life." I got a bit fixated on that phrase.
I'm glad to hear you are recovering from your surgery, and that you are finding quiet and "returning to the root". I love that the "route to the root passes through silence".
I love your Prayer. "Holy Loving, deepen my silence. Amen."

I feel as if I understand the phrase now....
