Merry Christmas

Dec 25, 2011 19:59

A pleasant day.

Listened to "The Santaland Diaries"  (Yes, David Sedaris, you are the best writer "The Young and the Restless" never had.)
Watched a 60 Minutes presentation on Mt. Athos. (Nice, but the 1981 German documentary was better and truer; nonetheless, a perfect Christmas treat
Out of deference to my loved once, i did not insist on watching "A Christmas Carol.").

On the fifth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me...
"Five Molding Wings,
Four Crawling Nerds,
Three Drenched Friends,
Two Hurtled Gloves,
And a Partridge Family video in a Pear Tree."
(i hope the next seven days will complete the sequence)
My true love gave me The Way of Chuang Tzu, by Thomas Merton with a preface by the Dalai Lama. (A Taoist. Catholic, Buddhist Text?), and Fung Yu-Lan's A Short History of Chinese Philosophy, a modern classic.

The afternoon was spent with our son, grandson, older daughter, and son-in-law.  Good meal, pleasant talk.

A good Christmas.

A Merry Christmas to all my Christian LJ friends and a very wonderful new year to all of you.
