Why are you so sure what God said would blow you away? (That is intended as a real enquiry, not a sneer, despite the sneery=sounding "Why are you so sure" beginning.)

Well, now that i think about it--i have to think about it.

I am given so many clear messages through these other sources. Be compassionate, don't hurt people, you are part of nature, don't be greedy, don't worry, don't make a fuss, share, don't be afraid. Be humble. The kingdom of god is here now. Don't get attached to stuff. He has sent me people who can expound on each of those ideas until i get them. I don't need a threat of a flood or a voice from the sky,

Its sort of like seances--if my loved one has gone to a better, lovely, more mysterious place, if she has passed through the veil, Is the best thing she can tell me "I hid the deed to the house in the basement." Its like Jesus supposedly had God say to the rich man in hell when he refused to send the poor man back from heaven to warn his family and friends, don't they have the law and the prophets?
What could he tell them that they couldn't know already if they wanted to?

It would be something i don't already get, and i guess i'm arrogant enough to think i get a lot.

A stupid question: so do you ascribe illumination to God only when you can't ascribe it to some other source? What makes it a peculiarly stupid question is that I wrote my answer just that way-- and as if illumination about my distinct difficulties or calling me to This Particular Thing as opposed to the manifold calls to How were all I could identify as God's voice. :D ( ... )

The Green Pastures was made in 1938 (do you like old movies?) It has and all black cast (nobody famous i think unless you know the Johnson Choir). I thing it was written and produced by whites and the story is sort of an Uncle Remus version of how Black folk talk and think. There is a disclaimer at the beginning suggesting that we were pretty racist in 1938 and we should not expect political correctness. However, i found nothing offensive about the movie (except maybe the characterization of second millennium b. c. Egyptians ( ... )
