Been on vacation for the last two weeks. It was good! Heather and I got a bunch of work done around the house, I got some bike riding in, we went to the cottage, went canoe camping and I got my road bike back in functional condition.

It feels strange to be back at work, I think my head is still in holidays. :)

Here's a photo from camping.

We did the Anstruther lake camping loop. We started near the Rathbun portage, portaging our way up to Rathbun lake. It was wonderful weather for canoeing. A tiny breeze at your back, sun and cloud, not too hot. We saw a few loons on Rathbun. Tried not to get too close to them, they had one or two young loons with them. Neat! From there we made the portage to North Rathbun lake; a long, L shaped lake. The first half is lined with boggy stuff, we saw a lot of neat bog flowers and bugs. There are some great camp sites on North Rathbun; we admired them but decided to keep going as there was still lots of time in the day. The portage to the next lake, Serpentine, is about 1.6 km long. It's a good hike, especially with a canoe and a pack. We found a huge blackberry patch in the middle of it, stopped and ate/picked a good deal of black berries. We camped on Serpentine, great site! Forgot the tent pegs, had to improvise. Had a great canoe back the next day. We had some good headwinds, we were both tired by the end.

I've turned my single speed mountain bike into a 1x9. Highlights include more traction uphill and being able to pedal going downhill.

I'm signed up for a 60km mountain bike race on the 19th. Need to get out for some long rides before then!
