I suffered neither this weekend...
THURSDAY
Not a damn thing.
FRIDAY
Friday was supposed to be a muy muy bien day full of fun events, however it all got blown to shit by apathy, smack downs, and the horrible weather...
Let's fast forward to 5:30.
I went to the girls' basketball games. I love watching high school basketball, both the guys and the girls.
So the JV is playing first. I missed the first 2 quarters because I was chillin with Bopha and Pete at the concessions stand. But when Pete and I get in there to actually grab a seat, we found that the JV game was a back and forth struggle.. and rather exciting to watch; something that JV games have not been since the dawn of time. With time winding down, the lead went back and forth until it was forced into a 4-minute overtime. Laura made some clutch free throws and random freshman girl whom I don't know made two HUGE shots, and the L-Town JV chicks came out the victor. w00t!
Then it was time for the varsity. They had the game in the realm of control most of the time. Amber had at least a dozen points, and Cassie grabbed a handful of rebounds. The varsity team also came away with the win, meaning both JV and Varsity L-Town chick teams are 2-1, a good start by any means.
The moment of truth came within literally the last second. L-town is up 46-43 with 4 seconds to go and we have the ball. All we need to do really is inbound it. Cassie gets the ball and takes it up court. The Franklin players are trying to foul her. Cassie gets it up our end of the court, jumps into the air, gets fouled...
C R A C K
That's the sound of Cassie's head colliding with the gym floor. Time on the clock? 0.1 seconds. So Cassie's on the floor for a long time. With the remaining time less than any high school girls' reaction time, they decided to call the game right there. Everyone disperses while the coaches, Cassie's parents, and Amber's mom (who's a nurse) all attend to Cassie. I wanted to get in there, but Mr. Laffitte told everyone to leave. I waited in the hall waiting for the stretcher to come by so I could at least walk her to the ambulance or whatever... but Bopha and Pete wanted to leave. I wanted to stay, they wanted to leave... bah, what to do. I ended up leaving.
We planned on going up to Ryan's to hang out. But during the game, a blizzard began dumping down the white stuff at an excessive rate. The roads were horrible and Bope and Pete couldn't get up Ryan's road without squealing... So it's a good thing I didn't go up there at that time. I got the call to head to Bope's house instead. Still feeling a pout of worry for Cassie, I went to her house anyway. We all gathered there for no later than 15 minutes when we decided to just call it a night.
I was off to Harrison's birthday party after that. But that nagging worry for Cassie's concern came back. So I said "Fuck it" and turned into the hospital. Right as I turned in, she was walking out with her parents, her two coaches, and Woody. Late, as usual. That's me. But she was ok, which was good. Diagnosis: concussion. She went home.
Now, the highlight of the night was supposed to come when I travelled to LSC for Matt (M.)'s "going away party". Avast, I couldn't make it because of the blasted blizzard. The roads between L-Town and L-Ville were shot to shit no doubt, and it was a risk I didn't want to take. So that upset me. Apparently it was an awesome party too. Matt booted 5 times, walked around telling everyone that he loved them 500 times, and all types of funny drunken ranting.
SATURDAY
Since my mom is shipping a box of presents to Nikki in Florida, I was forced into doing some early Christmas shopping.
Ask me why I don't like Christmas shopping... Go ahead, just ask me...
After picking up Bopha and Pete, we arrived at Wal Mart to ZERO parking spaces. Had to squeeze into one that barely even my compact car could fit in. I'd just assume park at Shaw's across the street. We get into the store.... you'd think it was the End of the World Clearance sale. We literally had to push our way through just to get down the lanes. It was like a general admittance rock show but all the hardcore rockers were replaced by bargain hunting middle-aged monkeys. After traversing the store, I take care of two of my sisters' Christmas presents, only after standing in an ungodly long line (and that was in the electronics... wtf).
MOMENT OF THE DAY: Standing in the kids' section (with many kids around, mind you), Pete looking at random big rubber ball: "What the Fffffff--" ... Me: "Pete, it's a kids' section >_>"
Driving back through town, after grabbing a bite to eat, I get a phone call from JP...:
JP: Hey Bobbo, wanna play the guessing game?
Me: Ummm... sure
JP: What's gold and wood that I have and won't be in your possession until at least next year.
Me: ...............
JP: the fucking World Series trophy, bitch
Me: ...............
Apparently Joe went to White River Junction where the craptacular Sox' World Series Tour stopped. He said he had a sign for Bronson Arroyo to hold while he got a picture with him that said "Hey Bobbo, look what we got!" ... After he came back to L-Town, he told us Bronson didn't even show up... Hah! Small victory!
We headed up to Ryan's for some chillness.. no surprise. Didn't stay long. I dropped Pete off at his house. While bringing Bope back to her house, she cued me into a "party" at Chris (B.)'s that night. Chris lived not far from me, so if I wanted to attend, it wouldn't be a problem since I would just be able to walk home. But at that point in time, I wasn't feeling it like I was the previous night, so instead I said I'd come, but I'd be the DD for anyone who needed it. But before that...
We went bowling.
Elyce was having her 16th birthday party at the bowling alley in St. J. Bope and I had to chuckle a bit... It would be our first return to the bowling alley after the
last incident. Apparently they had since fixed lane 5, which is always good.... we didn't have to pay $2500, which is even better. Sadly, we didn't get Lane 5, instead... Lane 7 and 8. A lot of people were there. So many we played team bowling, teams of 2. Bope and I were on a team.. our team name? The Killer B's! Booyah! We took on Chris and Phelz (team Joo!) and later on, Nick and Josh (F.). Bope and I had a good first game, but sucked it up the next 2. After a game of speed pool, we stole JP away from the birthday party group, said goodbye to everyone, then went back to L-Town.
We didn't go right to Chris's, but instead were looking for others to join us. The only person we managed to get was Tuity. So it was Bope, Chris, Phelz, Tuity, Hank, and I at Chris's house. Hank supplied all the alcohol, a bottle of SoCo, half of Baileys, a bottle of Butterscotch schnopps, and a bottle of Hot Damn. When I saw that there wasn't any vodka or vodka byproducts, I thought I'd be safe and not tempted. But a mix of SoCo and Dr. Pepper was calling my name... but I still restrained. Must... remain... DD! I watched them all play Bay Route. After minimal drinkage, we migrated into the living room and watched Bope and Tuity play Checkers... Bope got 0wned. And through getting 0wned in checkers is where she got slammed the most. She was the first one gone. A couple more games of checkers, and we migrate back to the kitchen where Chris, half-drunk, begins to cook up some cube steak and sausage. Now being the only sober person in the house, I assume cooking detail. It's now that Tuity is telling me to break out my camera for some photo ops. Now, I forgot I brought my camera. Not a great idea, getting pictures of underaged drinking. And after even telling them such, they all just yell at me telling me to start taking pictures. Excellent, I'm a cook, photographer, and driver for a house hold of drunk people. It's about now that I'm thinking "Damn, I could use a drink." ... Refrained... Midnight comes around.. Everyone is gone in some form or another, but it wasn't so hardcore than anyone was booting, which is good.
JP informs that he has to be home by 1:00. After a long run-around of who I'm bringing home, to which I thought I'd have a carful, I ended up only bringing Joe home. The others were all staying at Chris's. ...
So I bring Joe back, to which he's running his jaw... and it was apparently his first buzzed experience. He seemed only slightly buzzed and not full-on drunk. Wish I took it as lightly as he did my first time >_<. All the way back, he was practicing what he was going to say to get past his mom. I haven't heard from him if he got away with it, but judging by away messages, I got a mixed signal. I got an order to buy some bottled water for Tuity and Bope, so I went to Cumby's to get it. And it was on the way back that I got slightly upset. I ended up driving only 1 person home... seems like a wasted night. If I knew there'd only be one rider, I would've told JP to get someone else to drive him and had a drink or two myself. So still a little bitter, I dropped the water off at the house, and just decided to go home. But not before I got reassurance from everyone that I was "the man". I got a round of hugs from everyone... in fact, I got about 5 from Phelz. Drove off to my house and laid in my bed still a bit bitter... Though I calmed down after realizing what I left behind... it wasn't anything big. Getting drunk really ain't all it's cracked up to be... and you really have to be in the mood for anyway, which I can admit that I wasn't.
So all was good.
Just next time, I'm not the driver ...
SUNDAY
Woke up.
Got lunch.
Hung out at Ryan's with Pete and Bope.
Left my cell phone there and it's still there >_<.
Packed shit up.
Watched football.
Drove back to Lyndon.
Tuity IMd me to get over to Whitelaw because the guys in their suite just formed a "boy band" named 2 Hot 2 Handle and were about to do a concert. It was Matt, Chris (F.), and a couple others I was unaware of. It was sure to be a hilarious encounter. More people showed up than they planned on it.. which is to why I consider it a complete loss of 15 minutes >_>.
Chris, Matt, and I drove to McDonalds to get some food only to find it closed, so we settled on Cumby's. To and from, we began talking about how bad LSC really is socially. We slammed it pretty good, and drew it to atest to Matt's and my self-removal from the college.
Got back and went up to Tuity's room to watch the last 24 seconds of the Steelers/Jaguars epic. Steel's kicker notches a field goal to make it 17-16... Jags get the ball with 11 tics left... Leftwich completes a pass at the 41 with 4 seconds left, timeout Jags. This sets up Scobee (jags kicker) for an unprecedented 60-yarder. If he makes this, Jacksonville goes nuts. He blasts it... and it actually just barely has the length, which is miraculous in the first place, but is just a scootch to the right. Amazing ending.
And now I'm here...
... I'm a little sketchy about posting the pictures here, but since I know you're all curious (psht... yeah right)... I'll post them, and just hide them behind the cut.
