The Tanbark is Hot Lava.

Things have been pretty good lately. Here's a little Bobbo update in between my music narcissism and bitter rants.

*Did I say good? I meant horrible. Utterly terribly freaking horrible. UConn got dogged by an 11 seed. Oi. So I guess it's not the end of the world. I mean, George Mason is playing inspired ball, running with the big dogs from the otherwise unknown CAA. Every NCAA tournament needs a Cinderella, and bibbity-boppety-boo it's George Mason. (Remind me never to say that again). But dammit, I wanted to see my Huskies raise the hardware again. The last time one of my teams, on any sports medium, to win a championship was ... actually, UConn who won it two years ago. But after that, I have to go back to 2000 when the Yankees won the World Series and the Rams won the Super Bowl (but that's more 1999 in my opinion). Sure, there've been some good years; Giants in the Super Bowl in 01, Celtics and Kings both one win away from facing each other in the NBA Finals in 02, Yankees and Aaron bleeping Boone in 03. Seahawks reaching the Super Bowl this year. But none of them brought home the bacon. My next chance comes with the Stanley Cup Playoffs and my two teams; the Habs and the Sens. I don't have a good feeling the Canadiens will win anything or even might not make the playoffs. The Senators, on the other hand, I feel can really take home Sir Stanley's Cup. Here's hoping. But of course, a Yankee World Series would be more than acceptable too. Opening day next week. And I am stoked.

*Went to Keene last night and hung out with my sister. Weird? Kinda. It wasn't a spontanious act of sibling interaction though. She needed someone to be at her apartment when the oil man came around. And since she had class and her roommate was somewhere and our mom had work and I was just a bum, I was nominated to undertake the task of sticking around and handing the guy the money to fill up her hot oil tank. Her apartment didn't seem so cold to me though. But anyway. The oil guy was supposedly coming some time before noon. So my options were go spend the night at her place or drive over there nice and early. I hate getting up early, so the former was the more attractive option. I drove over there at about 6:00 but because of asshole drivers, didn't get there until 7:15. So I call her up when I get into town, then we go get some dinner. KFC. Hell yes. We take it back to the apartment and watch a couple movies; Chicken Little, a silly, weird Disney flick, and Anchorman. Erin had to get up early for class, as stated, so she went to bed after that. I wasn't tired at all. I went rooting through her and her roommate's movie selection to find her roommate owned 6 seasons of Seinfeld. So I watched about 7 or 8 episodes of it before falling asleep. Classic show. For all we know, it could still been on to this day if Jerry didn't pull out. Anyway, I actually slept pretty comfortably on the futon, waking up with my cell phone alarm clock going off to make sure I was up before the oil guy got there. But I could've kept sleeping. I popped another disc of Seinfeld in and watched some more of it while I stole some of my sister's "Crispy Hexagon" cereal. Her roommate stopped in for 2 minutes to grab something. That was slightly awkward. It's a good thing she wasn't staying. I was told the oil guy was coming before noon. But when I was on my 5th Seinfeld of the day, I was getting disconcerted. It was 1:30 and they weren't there. So I whip out the phonebook and give them a call. They got their schedules mixed up and came right over. Afterward, I grab some lunch and a sip of gas and head back to 'Cook. So it was a pretty cool night I guess. Better than doing nothing.

*Stupidity on my part. I put my backpack in my backseat and I didn't notice my headphones fall out. So as I'm backing out of the driveway, I hear CR-crack. I stop and pull forward not knowing what it was. But I open the door and see that I had just decimated my last pair of headphones. Great. That makes 3 sets of headphones I've gone through in just two weeks. I have such bad luck with headphones. I go through about 5 pairs a year on average. I keep buying cheapies because of it. But maybe if I do buy a nice pair they'll hang around longer. But I don't know if I want to risk buying 25 dollar phones if they'll just meet the same fate. Murrrr. So since I'm out another pair of headphones, I'm down to my very very very last option; my older than shit earbuds. I hate the earphones. They're so uncomfortable in my ears. And I don't know if my left ear is disproportionate to my right or whatever, but the left ear bud keeps falling out. Not to mention the sound immensely pales in comparison to any of my recent phones. So new phones are on the buy list.

*Finally a great weekend. I booked it up to L-Town on Saturday afternoon. I called around looking for Tuity to find he was at Applebee's with Lexy. So I ran into them at Bee's right as they were leaving. I haven't seen Lexy since she and I both left LSC a year and a half ago. Didn't really get a chance to catch up with her though. Twas a shame, but I still talk to her. They were taking off, but Tuity said he'd give me a call when he's ready to chill. So I took off first to Wal Mart to kill some time. After about an hour of walking around like a stooge, I started driving and paid a visit to Corey. We went cruising in his "pimped out" Focus, blasting some Judas Priest and yelling at old people while catching up on what we've been doing. It was a nice time. After an hour of that, I got back in my car and went over to my aunt's to drop something off and visit my chill cousin. I got a phone call right as I was about to leave. Thinking it was Tuity, I was suprised when it was Bopha telling me of her release from her job shift soon. So since I had nothing better to do, I drove down to the chinese restaurant and waited for her in the parking lot. It was getting late, but we still wanted to hang. She presented the option that we go to Calista's house and hang out with her. It was a good idea. But unfortunately, Calista informed us that her dad denied her of the proposal. Drat. So we decided to go see Date Movie. What an unbelievably stupid movie. Don't see it if you can help it. So we enjoy the movie (as much as it could be enjoyed). After the movie, which ended at about 11:00. I was ready to head back south. As I turn to go up to the parking lot, Bopha calls out to me and says that Calista says that her mother said that we could, not only come over, but stay the night too. Fuckin' awesome. Even though I wasn't well prepared for a sleep over, I would just deal with it. So we get over there. Calista's parents are in Boston leaving it just her and her brothers. Her dad called back shortly after we arrived and said that her mom was "in no position to allow her to have friends". In other words, her mom was completely sloshed. But her dad let us stay, which was cool. And how would he know, you know? I get invited to a Halo 2 match with her brothers. So I Halo'd it up for the next hour or so before calling it quits and heading upstairs where Calista and Bopha resided. Calista put in some Dane Cook and busted out the board games. First we played Monopoly. And my awesome Monopoly prowess kicked in as I destroyed them both. They couldn't resist my awesome hotels on light blue. So I won. Well, Calista ended up flipping the board up and dropping all the pieces everywhere when she landed on my Vermont Ave. Hotel. But in a way, isn't that really how the game ends? Someone getting pissed off? Haha. Anyway, while Dane still spit his awesome humor over the boombox, Calista set up Scrabble. I also destroyed everyone at this game. I was dropping my insane vocabulary on the board with words like "Kerpuscular". They could only attempt to dethrone me with crappy words like "Ate". After that, I was feeling slightly woozy and heavy-eyed, but stayed awake with some help from a 2 liter of Dew. Next game was Sorry. And like Monopoly and Scrabble before it, I just kicked Bope's and Calista's ass at it. I am the Sorry champion of the world. The final game of the night was Skip-Bo, which I really don't like. Skip-Bo is the biggest time waster in the world. You basically have to get rid of your discard pile first. Except it takes like 2 hours to get rid of your discard pile. Bope and I played a round of War while Calista used the computer. We headed downstairs afterward to watch some TV. We tried in vain to order Eurotrip from Cinemax. So we just ordered Team America; a worthy replacement. Calista cooked us up some french toast as it was closing in on 7:00 by now. And right now, we're all pretty burnt out. You ever get to that point of an all-nighter when you just think "God, why didn't I get some sleep?" Yeah. That all hit us at the same time. The other two slept. I didn't though. I actually was just about to slip off, but my phone starts ringing at 8:30. I didn't get any sleep at all, but that was all gravy even though I was driving for the next two hours. I made it home good. So it was definitely a great night. One of the most eventful in awhile.

*I may have finally landed some employment. A little over a week ago, I applied to Target. I got a call today from their personel manager to set up an interview. I'm heading down there at 1:00 tomorrow. Hopefully I'll land it. I'm not going to accept an overnight stock position like I did last time. I already made that mistake. Just can't hack it. I don't know why, but I think if I get hired at Target, it'll be different than my shity experience working for Wal Mart. It's the exact same store. So why do I think it'll be different? Oh well. Hopefully I'll stick with this job longer than the 16 days I worked for Wally's.
