2006, Retrospective

Books Read: 23

As predicted, my stack of gaming books really took it's toll on the 50 book objective this year. I still haven't gotten around to reading the Baroque Cycle, or to re-reading Cryptonomicon, but I did manage to make it most of the way through my gaming books. I'm currently on the last one.

Times Moved: 0

I'm still in the same place, and I'm still enjoying it.

Photos Taken: 740

I'm a bit disappointed in myself here. I know that I need to take more photos, but part of me really dreads the post-processing involved, and partly because of that I haven't been pulling out the camera as much. I would like to take at least 1000 photos in 2007.

Countries Visited: 0

While I didn't make it out of the country this year, I did manage to do some traveling within the US. I visited my relatives out in the Denver area and got some rock climbing in. I also got to see Charlotte, NC and New York, NY for the first time.

Jumps Out Of Airplanes: 1

I made my second jump early this year. We had an even bigger group the second time around, and if possible it was even more fun than the first time. My next jump would be a solo jump, but I'm not sure if I'm going to do that yet. Considering it would also involve several hours of class time, it's a bit more expensive. I guess if the opportunity were to present itself, I'd do it, but I don't feel compelled to make all the arrangements myself this time.
And as far as becoming a pilot is concerned, I'm still set on doing it. It looks like things will probably be too busy to start before summer, but it's definitely on the mind.

Open Source Project Releases: 1

While I'm once again saddened by this number, I've resigned myself to the fact that the project is pretty much dead. While I still entertain occasional thoughts of working on it more, I can never seem to find the time to do it. I also wonder about the relevancy of the project anymore with the maturation of C# and Mono.

Trips To The Doctor Or Emergency Room: 0

While I still haven't made it in for a regular physical, I at least took advantage of the health screening they run at work every year.

Weight Gained/Lost: +10

I was doing pretty good right around spring, having finally lost a few pounds. Then somewhere over summer, things reversed, and I started putting on the weight again. I'm now sitting around 205, but I'm actually pretty positive I'll be able to improve on that this year. Nikki has convinced me to join the gym she goes to. The plan (according to her) is to go 5 times a week. I'm not sure I'll be able to maintain that kind of schedule, but I'm sure the mutual encouragement will certainly get me there more often than otherwise.

Birthdays: 1

Really there is only ever the one per year, and this year I did decide to make a bit of a deal of it. So since I had a large batch of hard cider freshly brewed, and I was feeling anxious for a big party, I threw one myself. It was quite successful, and I packed my apartment. Not a bad way to celebrate another year of life.

Girlfriends acquired/lost: +1

Really, this was pretty much the defining characteristic of the year for me. I finally got fed up enough with being single that I was able to get over my fear of dating. And I was lucky enough to meet Nikki, who I've been going out with for over 6 months now.

Livejournal posts: 63

Somehow, I ended up with the exact same number of posts this year... That's almost creepy.
