General Class

This turned out to be a fairly productive weekend.
Friday night, I went to a crepe place in Evanston to celebrate Asparas' birthday with Kneelbeforezod, catechism, attackmonkey, snubkin and inediblebuddha. Unfortunately Nikki had to work at C&B, so she missed out. The food was good though, especially the dessert crepes.

Saturday, Nikki and I got up early and drove out to Schaumburg. I dropped her off at Ikea, while I headed to the community center to take a HAM license exam. My current licence was going to expire in August, and I figured that instead of just renewing, I'd take the test and move up a level. So I spent some time studying, and had no problem with the test. I've now got a General Class license. I'm not sure that I'll ever use the extra priveledges, but it's nice to know they're there. Only one more level to go: Extra Class.

After the test, I met up with Nikki at Ikea and we did a bit more shopping. We returned to her place, and started installing the new drapes and spice rack she'd purchased. She had also picked up a christmas tree, so we set that up. We got done just in time for Megan (Nikki's sister) to show up with her date. The four of us went to Tapas Barcelona for dinner, which was supposed to be followed by ice skating. It was late enough by the time we finished that we decided to just go back to Nikki's and play some games instead. After a few games of drunken Clue, we decided to call it a night.

Sunday was fairly low-key. We slept in late, made brunch, and watched the Bears game. By the time the game was over, it was time to drive Nikki to the airport so she could catch her flight to Connecticut (where she'll be auditing for the next two weeks). I'm going to fly out to New York on Thursday night to meet up with her and visit my brother (who's been out in New Jersey since April).

This really came out rather 5th grade book reporty...
Ah well.
