So, I saw this "joke" that essentially perpetuated the stereotype of consumer driven, materialistic, superficial, hypocritical women.
It also had the tired ass male stereotype in it too..but whatever..
Since I abhor gender stereotypes and consumerism alike, I wanted to write something anti-consumerist and as anti-stereotype as I could.
It's one of the things I look for in a partner, someone who isn't impressed by material objects and only likes the ones that are useful or meaningfull (computer, ipod, instruments, supplies to make things, books, etc.). Consumerism, it's crap to me.
I mean, I can't very well be that attracted to someone who wears a starving child' 6 month long meal, or even someone who WOULD wear..or WANTS to wear a starving child's 6 month meal.
I don't know..it might just be me... >.>
So anyway, here's another non-rhyming, no particular format poem lol. I don't know if this style is an already existing style, but I write in all kinds of different styles..suiting my mood at the time of writing.

For you..I would much rather..
by Paqui
For you
I would rather
buy materials
that you love
and sit there
with you
making presents
for you
together
For you
I would rather
buy supplies
to create art
with you
for you
with each other
For you
I would rather
buy you a book
that stimulates your intellect
that I would read
with you
for you
both of us at once
For you
I would rather
write a beautiful poem
that you could carry in your pocket
and pull out so I could read it
with you
for you
hand in hand
For you
I would rather
cook you your favorite dish
from scratch
with you
for you
both of us cookin baybay
For you
I would rather
obtain a fancy ring to sell
and give the money to a starving child
and pass all the merit
to you
for you
I would do good in your name.
For you
I would rather
climb seven thousand stairs
to a temple to ask a priest
for happiness
for you
because you deserve it
For you
I would rather
learn to sow
and make you the most beautiful dress
you've ever seen
I would
for you
because it means much more than laying the money down
For you
I would rather
give you seeds
to plant your own garden
that I would sow
with you
for you
side by side.
For you
I would rather do
all of these things
that mean so much more
than any superficial gift
than any mediocre
unoriginal
silly little
thing
rather do beautiful things
with you
for you
whenever wherever
For you
I would rather
take you on an adventure
an adventure
with you..
for us
..together.
