It's been a while and I don't know if I remember everything so I'll go day by day from Friday and see what I recall...
Friday, hmm can't seem to recall this day at all. Oh wait, here it comes. Took the kids to Music Together in the wee hours of the morning (seriously what do the other mothers have against sleeping in?) then dropped Reese off at Bonnie's and then Tyler and I went home and started the long process of making his cake. At least frosting it was a 3 hour process which included 3 different shades of grey (WALL-E cake), 20 ziplock bags, a lot of curse words and carpal tunnel pain that was totally worth the giant smile on my kids face when it was finished but still hurts. Then early
Saturday morning, around 4am Tyler comes downstairs coughing and hacking and proceeds to vomit in the bathroom. We are pretty confident that it is just the result of his cold (he frequently vomits from the mucus of a cold, as do I) but we do not want to infect the masses at his birthday party so we haul him off to the urgent care to put the guilt elswhere. UC doc says he has a cold and maybe a tummy virus but no he is not contagious he is good to go for the party.
Tyler had a great time at his party. We had it at the YMCA this year and he got to also use the tunnel room as part of the package. So we started off with some tunnel time and then brought the kids back in for cake and presents. Everybody did a great job at present picking and he loves everything he received. After all that excitement the kids wanted to go back to the tunnel room so I told Todd he could go to the tunnel room with the kids or clean up the room. He chose to clean, which was fine with me ;o) The kids ended up going across the hall to the mat room and the staff didn't seem to mind so I let them play in there. Eventually though the testosterone and lack of naps among the predominantly male group started to take its toll and rough housing began to border on violence so we had to call it quits. All in all though the kids played really well together and I think they had a good time. I do not know how the parents faired because I didn't get to see too many of them But I did make sure they all had cake and munchies available so they were at least fed ;o) After the party we went back to our house and met my family for some forced family fun while Mat is in town. Also Gary, our sort of adopted brother joined us. Todd crapped out and went to bed early because he was feeling ill. I had a nice time just sitting and chatting with everybody while the kids ran all over teh house playing.
Sunday Tyler's cold was really wipin ghim out and he was sleepy so we asked Dick and Shari to watch him during our vendor event. The vendor event was good and not so good. Good because I met some great fellow vendors bad because only two customers came (I knew them so I did some sales) but I did get at least one contact that wants to host a party and a whole bunch of things that I have to keep earning money so I can buy. After dinner with Todd's parents we packed up our little bundle of germs who was now keeping a 102 temp and occassionally spiking up to 103. Spent the night taking his temp and giving tylenol and worrying about his breathing being labored....so on
Monday I took him to his regular MD and she checked him and was concerned about his breathing and felt he was getting pneumonia so she put him on an antibiotic. After loading up on the rx and probiotics we headed home and that is where we have been ever since. Tyler pretty much feels like crap and isn't sleeping very well because he is up all night hacking and trying not to throw up from all the mucus that is now breaking up. My poor baby. I do feel a bit guilty about letting go to the party but truthfully that is why we went to the UC in the first place and he asured us he was good to go. Now on
Wednesday there is like a foot of snow between us and civilization, the sewer is backing up and both of my boys are ill.
