Had plans today wtih Jenni and the girls, but she just called to inform that the roads are icy in her area. Blech. We were going to let the kids make quesadillas and I bought all this food that is now going to be eaten by whom? Stupid weather. We may still get to make the visit assuming the city gets off its duff and pours out some salt but most likely we will miss the lunch time frame. In the meantime this means that I have no excuse to continue to ignore the stacks of laundry that I sorted on Monday. I don't even mind doing laundry, it's just that I loathe putting it all away after it's been washed. Oh, this also means that my son is going to force me to play Star Wars for the third day in a row...
Yesterday I had to go to the bank to get my debit card straightened out. On Friday I had gone to deposit a check and I went through the ATM to do it because I had both kids with me (update: the 2nd kid is not mine, I am her nanny during the week) and did not want to deal wtih them climbing all over the bank. So, I go about my business and get up to the point right before I put the deposit in and the ATM kicks my card out and says that my card has been deactivated. Shit. So then I had to take the kids into the bank, which thankfully was very empty. The nice but clueless girl re-set my pin to 1234 and told me to go out to the ATM and try to access it agian and change my pin. So I strap the kids in and drove around to do it again and of course it kicked my card out. Unstrap kids and haul them back into the bank again. Once again she re-sets my pin, "in a different way" and out I went to test her theory. This time the pin does work and I am able to change it to something other than 1234. Off I went on my merry way.... Until the following day when I went to the grocery store (thankfully alone) and after ringing up my enormous order I slide my card and encountered the error EFT. Cahsier comes over to assist me and informs me that my card is ringing up as food stamps. WTF? We try it a couple different times and it continued to ring through as food stamps, so finally I said I would just use it as a debit and see what happened. Thankfully it worked and I did not have to return my groceries which really would have pissed me off. Later that evening I tried to make an on line purchase for Tyler's birthday party and it declined. So yesterday, I trotted off to the bank again with both kids in tow and finally got to talk to someone who was educated in her area of expertise. She discovered that there was a temporary block on my non-pin transactions. To the best of our deductive abilities we assume that because the other girl had me trotting back and forth and putting in the wrong pin that the powers up above institued an automatic block on my non pin transactions. Ugh. She fixed it but we still did not figure out why my card was initially booted out so I have my fingers crossed that this mess is really resolved. I was able to get gas last night without any problems so I'm partially optimistic...
