Far be it from me to slander one of the earliest written works of man, but, and you so knew that "but" was coming, it's sooo dull - at least the director of Troy had a little fun and rearranged the story so that any person about to sit exams about the blasted thing was bound to fail - fortunately I am wise and am not lured into said trap... however, (please God this hunk of metal can understand Greek) who cares about the significance of "Εκτορα ποιμενα λαων" - I never saw Hektor shepherding - although the thought of Eric Bana dressed as a farm hand *grrr!* - shame on you Mr Homer for putting those thoughts in my head. memo to self: must remain chaste and innocent.
On a plus note; 6 years of studying ancient Greek allows me to look at least slightly intellectual and snooty - a requirement when in the presence of Durham rahs - and boast about knowing all 1,031 endings of the paradigmical verb λυω (someone feel free to redo my maths - that's every ending (singular, dual and plural) of the active, middle and passive in every tense (present, imperfect, aorist, perfect, pluperfect, future perfect) in indicative, subjunctive and optative, as well as the infinitives and every ending of the participles, of which there appear to be 630! Jeesh - and here's me forgetting the verbal adjectives - hmmm, add on another 90 endings - making a grand total of 1,121 *a pretty number I think you'll agree* and there you have what inhabits most of my brain....And just think I haven't even told you about my knowledge of latin verbs or nouns in either language...I'm surprised I have any room left to accommodate normal stuff like remembering to breathe etc...I think the only involuntary muscle action occurs in the oesophagus, once you swallow the body takes over - random fact from biology A-level - will have to ask SideWalk to confirm my suspicions.
Well, that's wasted another 10mins of potential revision time (yay!)
Velvel, nå er jeg trøtt og vil legge meg snart.....(well-well, I'm tired now and shall go to bed - for you non-Norwegiaphones - so needs to be a noun if it isn't already (the "ia" has to be a diphthong btw - non of this "Nor-we-gi-a-phones" but rather "Nor-we-jah-phones" - definitely going off at a tangent now lol.)
Hmm, perhaps I'll watch last ever episode of Sex & The City (again), or learn some more Norwegian verbs - bound to help my insomniacal state.
*legal disclaimer - the end of paragraph 2 is meant in no way to insinuate that SideWalk is an expert on swallowing - rather a one time expert on the Biology A-Level Course hehe!*
post scriptum: So liking the fact well-well = velvel.
post post scriptum: Apologies for my over use of hyphens - but it's 3.46am and my brain is too fried to concentrate on real grammar.
post post post scriptum - hehe! Why didn't I just use p.s./p.p.s/p.p.p.s???? Answers on a postcard...
