College Tradition

So the undie run is going on right now. Highly enthusiastic cheering, good-natured yelling and lotsa screaming. I'm tempted to go watch but 1) I don't feel like going outside (just got back from a lovely date with cocolo) and 2) not sure where it is, although I guess I could always follow the direction of the shouting. Where do such weird traditions come from anyway? And did any of you ever participate in your school's clothes-less traditions? ;)

Edit:
Curiosity got the better of us so we ventured forth from our apt and the festivities were actually happening smack dab in the middle of the street right in front of our apt. So reason #2 ended up being silly and not even worth mentioning. :P

The air was ripe with excitement and a sense of being utterly carefree. I felt like we were in West Hollywood during the Halloween Parade, only it was a parade of endless amounts of skin. I had pictured a few brave souls running up and down the streets in their unmentionables as onlookers cheered on, but there were multitudes upon multitudes of students, about equal parts male and female, parading about baring nearly all. Some people really shouldn't be allowed to go out in public in their undies, but I must say many were beautified in the darkness among flattering shadows.

So finally at the end of my time here, I have witnessed this beloved college tradition. It left me wondering where the hell I'd been the last four years. It was fun to watch (perhaps the novelty of it) but still... I don't think I'd ever participate. ;)
