For reasons that must remain undisclosed, Brawler of the Week is now Brawler of the Fortnight. Anyway, moving on, today we're talking about Luna Lovegood. :)
- The black, winged horse in some of Luna's icons is called a thestral. They can only be seen by people who have witnessed someone's death. There is a whole herd that lives in the forest at Hogwarts.
- Luna likes the thestrals. In fact she likes all unusual creatures. She has been meaning to ask Emperor Peony if she can visit the palace some time and see the rappigs.
- Even though she doesn't seem like it Luna can take care of herself. She has even fought in battle against Death Eaters with Harry Potter, Ron and Ginny Weasley, Hermoine Granger, Neville Longbottom, Sirius Black and several Order members and Aurors in the Department of Mysteries.
- Her classmates have always called her "Loony" behind her back and sometimes even to her face. Because she has such a unique view of the world she is considered weird and sometimes gets picked on but she doesn't seem to mind.
- Luna has a silly school girl crush on Guy Cecil. This is mostly because he is the kind of person who will jump into a palace moat in formal attire for a swim during a ball and also because she thinks he looks dashing when he shows off his sword skills.
- She loves music but doesn't usually like to dance. Sometimes she makes exceptions at parties but she usually has a hard time finding someone who is okay with her style of dancing.
- Luna is described by Harry Potter as someone who has a "knack for speaking uncomfortable truths." Kind of like the Clue Trout of Hogwarts!
- The reason Luna can see the thestrals is because she watched her mother die when she was 9 years old, before she started school at Hogwarts.
- She doesn't actively try to make friends with anyone but she would do almost anything for the ones she has.
- She somehow got the idea that Regulus Black is an angel. Even though this is bizarre to anyone who has ever met Regulus Luna will keep believing it until she sees evidence that it isn't true.
- Luna likes to wear unusual jewelry and accessories but it's not to make a fashion statement. Its because she thinks they have mystical or holistic powers. Except for the giant lion hat. That's just for watching quidditch games when Gryffindor plays against anyone except her own house, which is Ravenclaw.
- Her father Xenophilius edits The Quibbler. It is a tabloid with such an unusual idea of 'news' that most people don't take it seriously unless there is an article about Harry Potter in it. It is the best news source for Harry Potter news thanks to Luna's connections and the fact that the Ministry doesn't bend the stories to their own agendas.
- Luna is still confused about fandom since she joined before Brawldos started handing out those nifty little guides but she is starting to get the idea after someone mysteriously owl'd her the first two books in her series on Saturday.
