Let's put together the BoB series Easy Company TO & E (Table of Organization & Equipment).
Okay, so first of all, note that in RL, a parachute infantry rifle company is comprised of about 150 men. They're split into three rifle platoons and a company headquarters platoon.
Each rifle platoon is split into two rifle squads, a mortar squad, and a platoon HQ section.
The platoon HQ was the platoon leader (lieutenant), assistant platoon leader (2nd lieutenant), platoon sergeant, radio man with the backpack wireless, and the two machine gun teams.
Each rifle squad was led by a sergeant, assisted by a corporal, a radioman with a handheld, and had a BAR team (Browning Automatic Rifle) plus ten riflemen.
Sometimes some of the weapons were replaced by other weaponry like bazookas and such.
This is how it's supposed to be.
Then you go to war. You lose your CO and your whole company HQ when their plane goes down on D-Day. You don't know where anyone is for the first few days. And paratroopers are trained to do everyone else's jobs at a pinch.
Add to that, people switch platoons according to need or promotion; plus, in the series, we follow the Toccoa guys, who are all noncoms by halfway through the series and have other responsibilities aside from their specialties.
