Lewis Nixon, ladies and gentlemen. I'm not sure anyone ever said it better. However, if you're looking for something slightly more poetic in tone:
This story shall the good man teach his son;
And Crispin Crispian shall ne'er go by,
From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be remembered-
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition;
And gentlemen in England now-a-bed
Shall think themselves accurs'd they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon Saint Crispin's day.
Either way, September is a fine time for a rewatch!
I'm
omphale23, and
emiliglia and I are going to do our best to fill
shanghai_jim's boots this time around. We'll be starting the rewatch NEXT WEEK, on September 9th, so that everyone will have some time to dust off their dvds and get ready to chat about new observations, old jokes, and anything else that comes to mind. We'll be continuing the tradition of locked and unlocked posts; if you want to be able to participate in the entire conversation, you'll need to join the comm.
We're also planning to add in a couple of new things this time around, so be watching for more detailed posts next week.
(For those of you who can't wait that long to get your fix, SpikeTV in the US is showing a marathon of the entire series next weekend. It starts at 7pm on Saturday, and continues at 3pm on Sunday.)
This post will serve as the introduction post as well--whether you're a new member or old guard, if you want to tell everyone a little bit about yourself, the comments are open. Emiliglia and I are both rather new to the fandom, so you'll find a bit about us there.
Gather up your musette bags, indoctrinate your friends, and get ready to watch--and discuss--one of the best series ever to appear on television!
(I sound like a hyperactive tour guide. It's official, I have become the sort of person I used to find unbearably annoying.)
