Rewatch: Bastogne
Well, today I am rewatching Bastogne as a birthday present to myself.
I'd forgotten how realistic the snow looks. It was actually pretty warm in the warehouse where they shot Bastogne.
The first time I saw this, I couldn't tell Shane wasn't American. He got the accent down perfectly.
There needs to be more love for Spina. He deserves more love from the fandom. I want Spina's hat. It looks really comfy and warm.
It breaks my heart how Babe starts to slowly break throughout the episode, culminating with Julian's death. After reading Bill and Babe's book, I've really gotten a lot of insight into Babe and Julian's friendship and why that wasn't elaborated on more in the episode.
I find it really interesting that the producers essentially fabricated this episode, as the Battle of the Bulge was much more action oriented, and it's not really known whether Gene actually met Renee. They did a damn good job highlighting what it was like for the medics and what they had to go through.
