FINALLY!!
I've made it. I got an email last night from the course coordinator of the Mechatronics program offering me a place. He explained that he had already transferred my degree to this but that he could change it back if I wanted. Obviously he received a hasty reply confirming that this wouldn't be required!
I'm now sitting in some rather rarefied air. Every person in this course is an above average student so I've got my work cut out for me if I intend to walk away with an Honours tag. I've also had to change one paper to better prepare me for 3rd year. As a result I'm now behind on 3 weeks of lectures. The upside is that I don't have to complete the first lab. I asked what it contained and was told oscilloscopes, breadboards & soldering. I replied that these constituted my current part time job, so I was already well versed. I also miss the first assessment, but this will be assigned an average mark based on my performance throughout the paper.
This is the point that I've been working towards for the last 12-18 months. As you can probably guess, I'll be grinning like a Cheshire Cat for the next week or so.
