For some reason I find Armstrong really difficult to write, but when I actually sat down and made myself, this just popped out.

I think the two main coping strategies would be "hitting the bottle" and "leaving as soon as you can, pretending to have a stomach ache". Armstrong will doubtless be confused to find that half his choir is blind drunk and the other half keep edging towards the door.
