Oh, happy day
A late Christmas present for me today ... the lovely qashqai1 has subbed a new FMA OVA which I did not even know about, "Simple People", and posted the results for all to enjoy over atfm_alchemist. Look here! You'll be surprised to learn it's based on that gaiden, "Simple People", where Winry gets her earrings and Riza grows her hair out.
Why is my joy so unconfined? Well, the OVA itself is very cute and funny, with a hilariously bratty thirteen year old Ed and twelve year old Al, a cool little fight scene and some wrench-throwing and nerding from young Win. BUT! The source of my joy is that this OVA has provided me with the first glimpse of my very favourite minor FMA character, Lt. Rebecca Catalina, weeks and weeks before I was expecting to get to see her. Well, hoorah! Those of you on the flist who read my fic (um, most of you?) will already know that I've basically promoted Rebecca to a main cast member, and ship her with Havoc like fire.

The classic Rebecca combo: holding a big scary gun while tormenting Riza with her insanity and going on about hot guys. I was sort of tempted to make this a "No Small Injury" themed caption competition.
The girls head off to shoot things and intimidate everyone with their sexy competence.
Obviously I have watched Rebecca's two-minute appearance several times over my breakfast coffee in order to make a preliminary SRS BIZNESS fannish assessment of her character design and seiyuu's casting and performance. Conclusions:
1. I like how she's a bit littler and less muscly than Riza, it's a nice contrast.
2. But it is crucial to her characterisation that she has an awesome rack to go with her tight butt! Remember this, Brotherhood! She'll be needing that Arakawa-drawn cleavage for the epilogue with Havo in my head.
3. Her VA sounds naughty, and brings the comedy in her roughly three lines of dialogue, which is basically what she'll have to do in every other canon Rebecca appearance (three scenes total so far, I believe!), so an excellent sigh. In my head, Rebecca sounds like Megumi Hayashibara in Faye from Cowboy Bebop mode. "Yada, yada," etc. But this will do me fine!
Finally, here is a screencap of hard-ass Riza shooting the brains out of some poor paper target, purely because of the hotness.
If a woman like this had promised to shoot you if you didn't behave, you would so behave. Or maybe hope to misbehave just enough to earn a quick smack on the bum? XD
