The Schwag show was amazing last night. They jammed so hard, they stopped playing and then did a short reprise of Sugar Magnolia, and then I knew the show was done. But that was only the first set. They came back for another, rocked just as hard. Sugar Magnolia, Sugaree, Franklin's Tower, some Hendrix, Folsom Prison, I guess Johnny Cash played the Blue Note in 86, so Jimmy was talking about that and how we still played Cash songs. I couldn't tell you what else was played. After the show, we hung around and talked to Jimmy a little. Paul, if you see this before tonight, I did mention you opening at AllStars, and he didn't think anyone was opening. But he knew who you were when I dropped your name and he talked about your beard. They closed with Shakedown Street. On screen, they had the visuals and the videos of the band, but at one point I looked up and they had scenes from Star Wars mixed in. That was cool. One part in a song, I think it was after the big drum solo and then the rest of the band played while the drummer rested, it was some spacey bass jam, and Jimmy was doing weird stuff I couldn't figure out, then he had people in the front fret the instrument; my friend Ian got to. It was his first time seeing the Schwag and I invited him minutes before I left.
Well, I have marching band, so I shall leave.
Happy Schwag
And if you guys talk to Jimmy tonight, tell him I'd be there if I didn't have marching band.
