Above my desk is a sign I made that says "You are the greatest fairy artist in the world". I made it because it is one of my goals to be such an artist. Just recently, I have been working on learning to draw the human body without any black outlines using shadows to highlight muscle tones etc.
Anyways, here's a quick update. I've had to cancel my phone and am currently in the process of moving my stuff out of storage. This will bring my "survivability" to manageable terms meaning I can keep my car and my apartment but will have almost nothing left over. I have been apply like mad to many places to work but have not had much luck.
I'm using my time wisely to hone my skills as an artist to make some art that I can sell and hopefully someday turn around and survive off of it. The advantage I have as of right now is that there aren't too many fairy artists that are "big". Most the fairies you've seen in stores are by one or two main artists. This is a "niche" that I hope to take advantage of and put me back in control of my life... at least, this is something that I enjoy doing and someone one said "If you love what you do, the money will follow."
I hope so, either way, it continues my journey of a thousand miles if only for a few feet but I'm a big believer that the mover of mountains begins with a small pebble. So, here are two virtual pebbles. One is rated "G" and the one behind the cut is NSFW but is how I originally intended it. Click on it Once to open a larger version and then once again to see full size.
So, if you've been following my work, then you should see a big difference from where I was long ago and where I am today. To me, it still looks "amature-ish" but I am proud of it and really believe that it will only get better. I would love to hear your thoughts on it. (Feel free to save the image and share it with your friends). This post is open to the LJ world.
