I can take waking up early just fine, but why set it to the most annoying beeping sound in the world or the worst quality radio. The classic waking up to break the alarm clock idea seems to hold true for me. I don't wake up because I hear wonderful music, I wake up because it pains my ears to listen. Don't get me mistaken, waking up early is still a pain unto itself, but is it possible for waking up early to consist of something pleasant? And I'm not talking about those "nature sounds" that cheap alarm clocks give that sound like the hooked a defribulator up to the speaker, trying to get it to stop vibrating and start beating again (both of which are incredibly unpleasant).
Second of all, alarm clocks tend to be the ugliest things in the world. Certainly most people want a good-looking room to fall asleep and wake up in (and whatever else people do in their bedrooms these days). Why make a necessity so ugly? it's a dumb move. Despite not being a color coordinator or designer in any way, I abhor the look of my alarm clock. I just think it's ugly in so many different ways and despite the fact that it probably does match with my furniture (or whatever), I hate it.
but i've found one that i love. it is sleek and beautiful. it's wooden cabinets make me melt at first glance and just seeing the analog clock on the front makes me feel at rest. it is my perfect alarm clock. The single mono speaker drives me crazy with it's ease, simplicity and warmth. It sends me back to the days of vacuum tubes in style but keeps me going with the latest technology of the day. it is my dream, my love, my new alarm clock.
actually, i don't have one yet, but i didn't wanna mess up the tone of the piece until this sentence, so whatever. i want it so bad and when i go to college, it will be the one piece of sophistication in my little dorm room. and one day, in the faraway future, i will look at it and remember how far it has taken me... and how much it cost me.
