Cross-Ciricular Work

Dec 08, 2007 09:23

As a student studying Primary Teaching in university, we are expected to do certain things. One of which is to take part in a Cross Cirricular Three week project. Oh the excitment. Well, those of you who don't doteaching mightthink so. But believe me when I say it is not. t's group work, and as I am a sad person who has no friends (Oh woe ith me!),I ended up paired with three people I don't know, at all.

Not, one of those peope, Victoria, isreally nice, and I would like to nw, after two weeks of said project, call her frend (we spent three hours talking about out pets). But the other two? Dear god I just want to thump them. So far they have managed to disagree with every single thing we've talkd about.

I suppose I should probably explain what we're actually doing shouldn't I?

It's a Creative Arts, dance, drama, literacy, Art, Music. And we chose the theme of Chinese New Year (I wanted to make Dragons, that was my excuse for suggesting it). Easy enough, you can link it to all manner of creative things, and even some non ceative stuff as well.

So that as all good. Until our group mates decided not to contact us when we e-mailed them, chose then to argue every single little thing they disliked, even though it was the sensibliest thing in the universe. And today, in about two and a half hours, I have to go and meet them again! It is most depressing, and I may even cry... wel, not really, but you get my point.

The worst thing is though, is that this project is due in next Tuesday, which should be interesting all round. Eek!

I may have more to update after the meeting... sigh,

AHA! I have returned from the little meeting. It went about as well as I had thought it would. They left myself and Vicky waiting for them for about an hour before they finally decided to crawl out of bed and we could start. We're talking we were supposed to meet at midday. I don't care how good their night out was, this is a group project, and they're going to make us fail!

Downright depressing.

Anyway, after half an hour of crap from them myself and Vicky left and went to the college library and did some actual work! And we got so much more done by ourselves than with them. It wasn't a total loss, and we did have a few god laughs about it all. And made up a whole new version of the Chinese New Year animals story. Involving a fish.

Here it is for your amusement. (we spent half an hour giggling intermittitently at this one.)
If you don't know the basic story, involving the cat that is, this is it.
The thirteen animals were told to cross the river, the first one to the other side would have the first year named after them. The cat and rat asked the ox to carry them across and he agreed. However, halfway across the rat pushed the cat from the ox and into the water. Due to this the cat was the last to arrive, and thus the only animal to not have a year named after it. Now onwards to the Fish story!

The Story of the fish or the alternative version of why the cat didn’t win or why gold fish are kept in small bowls The fish was not in the race The cat was pushed off by the rat While in the water it tried to eat a passing fish The fish swam all the way to the end The cat got lost and so never finished the race The fish swam so fast it jumped out of the water It reached the winning post and smacked the Jade Emperor in the mouth Then landed in a bowl of water Due to the indignity of being smacked in the gob by a little fish the
fish was never officially declared the winner and from then on were kept in small prison bowls full of water

I hope you enjoyed this as much as we did!
