you can buy tablets called Silica. it's supposed to help with strengthening hair & nails. I don't use it but my mum does. she said it works.

i finally got rid of my nail biting habit. i kept thinking about how much bacteria is under your nails and that i might as well be licking the toilet bowl of a public toilet. yeah. yuck, hey?

understandable.
you should try that silica stuff. it does work. it may take a while to get into your system though. i dunno, a month or 2 maybe?
my nails break and peel alot, so i usually just coat them with clear nail polish. not necessarily one that is specifically for nail hardening. that has been working for me.

they also help your hair grow. you could just say youre using it for that. like you heard in some teen magazine that it works. it does, though.

I have this same problem but a couple months ago I began using Sally Hansen "Hard As Nails" stuff. It's a clear nail polish that comes in a round bottle. I put two coats of it on once a week under some other nail polish and my nails are no longer peeling or chipping and are growing again!!!
I swear it's miracle stuff and really cheap too.
