hello bmezine, i have an issue.
last saturday (as of now, 3 days ago) i got my lip pierced. previously, i have both sides of my lip pierced, and had them for about three years before i decided to retire them. they were pierced with a 14 gauge needle so i semi large scars from them which is no big deal to me but at the notion of having more scars, i decided to have the new piercing done through the old scar (this time it was with a 16 gauge so we figured scarring be minimal?). the front is dead on through the scartissue, however after leaving the shop i realized that the new piercing is angled much lower than the original. i was distraught but didn't think much of it, until the back of the labret stud (which is much longer anyways) started to rub against my teeth incessantly, as well as a bit agaisnt my gums (!). i decided to deal with it, under the impression that when i switched jewlery it be more manageable but the sensation of it against my teeth was just too unbearable and worrisome to me. i ended up changing jewelery to a cbr and it's much better (i know i shouldn't have changed it, but i couldn't deal with it. my mouth keep puckering to keep it from touching my teeth no matter how hard i tried to relax) but i am very unhappy with the placement still. i worry that later dental damage will occur if left in the same position and no piercing is worth that. it's been only a short while of time, but i was wondering what you guys would think of how to go about me getting this situation fixed. either way, i want it pierced straighter, which i believe is how it should of been in the first place, but should i wait and let what i have heal before getting it repierced or should i just go ahead and get it redone and let the old hole heal simultaneously? would there be too much swelling? i am worried also because, while i do not think it is infected, there is a great deal more swelling than i have ever had associated with a lip piercing, with a little clear to light, sallow yellow discharge, and some heat, but no discoloration. also, from the swelling, the lip on the piercing side is getting ulcerated at the top and overall i am just very uncomfortable.
i am so at a loss at what to do. i feel so stupid but i rather do it correctly this time and have the internets laugh at me than go through this again. :(
