A New Life

Jan 18, 2008 06:41

I've been awake since around four o'clock this morning. I was supposed to start my period on January 7, and I told myself that if I hadn't started by this morning I would take a pregnancy test. Well, for those of you who don't know, you're supposed to do it first thing in the morning to get the best result. So, if anyone has ever had to pee in ( Read more... )

Married life is wonderful! Much busier than I thought it would be!

How are you and Tony doing? I'm sure you're really excited about the new baby! When are you due, do you know?

Glad to hear married life is going well! What are you guys up to lately?

Tony and I are fine...I think he's a little (okay, a lot!) anxious about it, but it hasn't quite sunk in for either of us yet. I made a doctor's appointment today, for Feb. 22. Hopefully they'll be able to give me a due date, but as far as I can figure, it'll be sometime in early September (I'm going to be miserable this summer, as hot-natured as I already am!).

I already have What to Expect When You're Expecting...I was going to buy it, but my mom bought it a year ago when we first started talking about having a baby! She's ecstatic, as you may guess a first-time grandma-to-be would be!

We've just been staying busy with everything! I got quilting lessons for Christmas so I've been taking those and David is still studying for his CCNA exam. He's hoping to pass the exam in a couple of weeks and start looking for a new job. We're hoping that comes soon!

You'll be a wonderful mom! I'm sure you're extremely excited and have already started planning. Let me know if you need anything!

Quilting lessons sound like fun! I'll keep my fingers crossed for David. Does he have any idea where he'd like to work?

Thanks for the vote of confidence...I hope everything will go well. You're right about the planning, of course, but we'd quasi-started planning things long ago. We've gotten a bunch of hand-me-down baby stuff from my aunt, stepmom, etc., like a crib, stroller, bouncy seat, pack and play, all kinds of stuff! We've been really lucky in that respect; we already have a lot of the big stuff taken care of.

Quilting lessons are fantastic! I have two classes left and I can't wait!

David's not 100% positive where he wants to work next. His best friend's father works at a networking company so he's hoping that will help him out but right now we're just focusing on passing the test!

It's great to have so much taken care of so early! I can only imagine that takes a huge load off of your shoulders. David's sister had a little boy almost a year ago so now all eyes are looking at us. At Kristin's birthday party yesterday they asked if we wanted to try for twins. YIKES! We think a puppy first sounds better!

Yeah, Tony's kinda bummed that we won't be getting a dog for a while now. I told him that he doesn't even take care of the cats, so why should we get a dog?? Of course, since Friday he's been really good about cleaning the litterboxes, since I'm no longer allowed.

But TWINS?!?! No thank you! One, I don't know if my body could handle it, and I'm pretty sure our finances can't, either! =)

Yes, it is a relief to have so much starting out. We have an old crib and changing table, but my dad is going to give us Noah's really nice cherry crib, so we haven't decided whether to paint the old changing table or buy a matching new one. Really the only BIG things we need are a dresser and a glider rocking chair (okay, that's not a NEED, but a really big WANT on my part!)

So what kind of quilt are you making? I can sew, but I'd love to have time to do more.

I'm sure he'll be great taking care of you! A baby changes everything. And how can he be sad about a puppy when he's going to have a baby? That sounds much more fun!

Having twins actually runs in my family. I kind of think it would be fun, I've always wanted them.

David has promised me a glider rocking chair when we have a baby! I LOVE them! His sister got one I think but doesn't use it. They mostly sit on the couch, but I think I would be in it all the time!

We're making a wall hanging quilt. It's a churn dash quilt. This past week we had to assemble all 4 of our blocks and tonight we're going to learn how to put on a border and next week we finish! It's so exciting. David's mom and grandmother quilt. Since his grandmother isn't quilting anymore (she's 94) she gave me all of her old stuff! It's too cool!

Tony says twins run in his family, but I've never met or heard of any. But I've heard that it skips a generation through the mother. I've got twins on my dad's side (their mothers are my dad's sisters, so there's something to that), so I think I'm pretty safe. My mom said she wanted twins when she was pregnant with me, then got me and realized how much time one baby takes!

Gliders are awesome! I can't wait to get one; we just need to decide on the paint color so we get one with a cushion that matches.

Sounds like you've really learned a lot about quilting! It's always nice when nice things are passed down; they mean so much more than if you had to buy them new.

I'm positive twins run in our family and it's my generation to have them. My cousin, Lisa, had a set of twins and my grandmother's sisters are twins. Also, if it's the father's side it runs through, it is also in David's family on both his mother and father's side. I'm pretty positive that I won't have them, but it would be neat if I did.

I'm very excited about quilting. I reccomend taking classes like this for anyone who's interested in learning how! I have so much fun going to class and making mistakes with other people! Sounds bad, but it's more fun to make a mistake in a group than it is to make it by yourself!

Well, I guess you won't know about the twins until YOU guys start trying!! Although if you want twins, I'd recommend waiting to start and enjoy all the time to yourselves while you still have it! =)

Where are you taking your quilting lessons?

We're going to wait a while anyway before having kids. I mean we haven't even been married a year yet and I'm planning on going back to school and he's changing professions - so it'll be a bit. Granted that doesn't make it any easier, I want to have kids now, but it's the smart thing to wait!

I'm taking lessons at a place called Among Friends Quilt Shop. David's mom knows the owner (and all of the employees) http://www.amongfriendsquiltshop.com/. They're super nice and it's a fantastic class! My last lesson is on Monday and I'm very very sad. Since I have a birthday coming up though, his mom said she'd get me another lesson if I wanted! We'll have to see though!

I agree it's smart to wait awhile...until you've been married at least one year, anyway. We'll have been married three years this June.

I think I've heard of Among Friends... When's your birthday? Enjoy your time!! =)

Does time seem to fly by when you're married? It really seems like it. It feels like only yesterday David and I were planning the wedding, now we've been married for 6 months! And you've been married for 3 years! I can't figure out where all the time went!

The quilt shop is really nice but pretty pricey. I've really enjoyed my classes though. Now if I could only find time to do my homework, then I'd be happy.

My birthday is Feb 24.

In some ways, it's like, whoa! We've already been married for three years! And in other ways, it seems like, what? It's ONLY been three years?!
