Luckiness

Tonight kendall and I drove into indiana after we went and saw my friend cole play at a coffee house. We drove over the bridge with the windows down although it was freezing, listening to death cab. It was a sweet scenario. Lights bouncing off the river, bridge with giant purple lights all over it. ....God is showing us beauty in everything. All of us.

I was thinking about this the other day, decided to write about it i guess.
Okay, its cold. Its feeling all Christmas like.
For the most part, christians and non christians alike celebrate christmas. (with the exeptions of those that are Jewish and those that do not decide to recognize the holiday) but for a large part, many people that are not God-lovers, that would not call themselves christians or want to be, celebrate this holiday.
I just find this very interesting. Mainly because of the origin of the holiday, and the beauty within it.
Back in the first/second century a.d. there were many people who worshiped the sun. The day that they celebrated the sun most of all, etc, was December 25. Now the Christians, the Christ lovers in that day, decided that they themselves would worship God, particularly the birth of Jesus Christ on this very same day. Sun worship declined much during the spread of Christianity, etc.
Now isnt this interesting to here. Nationwide, worldwide, people are giving gifts etc on the 25th and celebrating Christmas without any thought of what they are doing. They are celebrating a holiday that began by Christians celebrating the Birth of Jesus Christ! Christ-mas. Gifts are fun...yay. Family is Special...yay. But what are the gifts for? What are they symbolic of? Me giving a gift to my mother and father, out of love, is only a minute picture of the greatest gift the world has ever known, and that being Jesus Christ to mankind. Matt. 1:21 "She will bear a Son; and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins."
I just was pondering this. That so many non-christians celebrate, and absolutely love this holiday. But where does this love come from. From my experience with my own heart, and looking at my past i see that i saw christmas very selfishly. I get presents...awesome! I love being with family and friends....YAY! I, I , ME, Me, Me.
This year I pray my attitude would be different. And my daily love for the birth of Christ would only be more shown by the day, and that my recieving gifts and giving them would only point my mind, heart, and head to Christ in thankfulness.
Now dont get me wrong i dont think that people who dont consider themselves christians should not celebrate Christmas. I just wish we were more informed of what we are doing, and that they are celebrating everything but Jesus on this day that is used for us to be focused on just that.
And a plus, most people who would consider themselves christians, and many who are, fail to realize the meaning, reason, and love behind the Christmas season. For many it is one of the few times a year that they/we think about Christ's birth, life, and death, resurrection at all. My heart is broken over this. This is our life! Our very reason for breathing. and we are ignorant, and lazy in celebrating our saviour with our lives. Christians, Non-Christians, Me, probably you, ...need to be brokenhearted that we are so self-centered.

Repentance is necessary.
Myself included.
