Another Monday, another meme. This one (an Ao3 stats meme) stolen for the delightful
draycevixen.
I currently have 151 works posted on A03.
Full list is here. What’s your first and second most common work ratings?
Teen & Up (49)
General Audiences (43)
I gotta say that I'm truly shocked that my second most common rating is General Audiences o_O
How many fics have you written in each relationship category? Is this more accidental, or do you have preferences?
F/M (73)
M/M (51)
Gen (30)
Other (1) The 'other' tag was for
a story about a zombie couple. I guess I thought it made a difference that they were dead.
When I began writing fanfic, I only wrote (or had an interest in) F/M ships. But subsequent fandoms made me interested in M/M ships. The heavy preference on F/M relationships in those early years sways the stats in their favor, but right now I think I write an even split between F/M and M/M fics.
What are your top four fandoms by numbers? Are you still active in any of them, and do you tend to migrate a lot?
Criminal Minds (80)
V for Vendetta (35)
Supernatural (11)
Sherlock (8)
The only fandom on this list that I'm actively engaging with is Criminal Minds. I lurk enthusiastically in SPN (and the works number here is misleading because most of them are illustrations, not fics) and I still look into Sherlock occasionally. POI comes in at 6 works and I'd say that I'm more engaged with POI than Sherlock. I don't migrate a lot. I read a lot from other fandoms but I don't write for them unless I feel I have a good handle on them and an interesting story to tell. Other fandoms on my list include La Femme Nikita, Battle Creek, Forever, and Almost Human. If any of those shows had been longer/more successful, I'd have written more for them. I just tend to fall for things that don't have a chance :(
What are your top four character tags? Does this match how you feel about the characters, or are you puzzled?
Spencer Reid (78)
Aaron Hotchner (54)
Emily Prentiss (43)
Derek Morgan (36)
(V and Evey tied at 33 tags each)
No surprises here. CM is my most prolific fandom and I ship Reid with everyone/write him into everything. Because I'm a shipper, I feel that character tags aren't as telling as relationship tags, so...
What are your top 4 relationship tags?
Emily Prentiss/Spencer Reid (34)
V/Evey Hammond (32)
Aaron Hotchner/Spencer Reid (30)
Sherlock Holmes/John Watson (5) and Sam Winchester/Dean Winchester (5)
(Harold Finch/John Reese technically qualify as the fourth highest with 6 works but they got split up into pre- and post-slash tags so the numbers weren't combined)
After CM ships, couplehood seems to fall off a cliff. As I said before, if my fandoms lasted longer, the stats would be different.
What are your top two most used additional tags, and your bottom two (or bottom of a list of 10)? What would happen if you combined all of these into a fic?
Developing Relationship (37)
Romantic Friendship (34)
Male-Female Friendship (12)
Friendship/Love (10)
Are we seeing a pattern here? ;) Hurt/Comfort, Denial of Feelings, and Angst all fall in between those four. I basically combine all of these tags into most things I write so the second part to this question is my whole damned works list.
How many WIPs do you have currently running on AO3? Any you don’t plan on finishing?
I don't post WIPs anymore. I never want to over-promise and under-deliver (ie. orphaning a story I can't finish). Also, it screws with my editing process if I post in pieces. I have written a few series though, and I will never consider them complete even if I lose interest in the fandom. You never know when another story will hit you ;)
For example, the
Texts From Last Night series will always remain unfinished because that's a fluffy CM series that I add to when I come up with new jokes. The
Illustrations series and the
Brainfarts I Wrote Down series will also remain unfinished because that's how I organize my fanart and original fics into folders on Ao3. However, the
Ignition series for V for Vendetta will likely never have another update despite being marked as "unfinished".
A full series listing is here.
