My day in a nutshell: I found the Moogalicious mix to have TOO MUCH MOOG in it

I went offline for the weekend and SHIT HAPPENED AROUND HERE, YO! Holy doodle...

To everyone who's having a rough go of it right now (especially those in the SPN fandom), hang in there, okay? The bad times never last - we always pull through because that's how we're built. And if you don't feel strong at the moment, don't be afraid to reach out to those who are. You ain't heavy, brothers and sisters...

Okay. Onwards...

This past weekend was Victoria Day weekend (or May 2-4 even though it didn't fall near May 24th this year) so I was soaking up the long weekend. But synap was working all weekend. AND Mum came into town for our last opera outing of the season (which I forgot). AND I had to spend some time with my cranky brother. So, yeah... I didn't get as much done as I wanted. To compensate, I took today off from work. But, no. Clients lost their minds a little so I've been Powerpointing at home in my PJs all day *burble of frustration*

Well, the good news is that Mum is great and has sooooo many projects on the go at the moment that I can't remember them all. She told me that she's going to Australia next year to visit her siblings before they both drop off the perch (they are significantly older than her and have been harassing her for a visit for some time). I asked her how she is going to handle the flight and she said that she wanted to knit her way there but was worried that the airline wouldn't let her take knitting needles in her carry-on. I'm more concerned about her sitting for 27+ hours because flight attendants get nervous when people move around. Anyway, I'm sure we'll figure this out before she goes.

We saw Bluebeard's Castle and Erwartung, both of which had the potential for boredom/disaster but were COMPLETELY SPELLBINDING thanks to the direction of Robert LePage. I can't really say that I've ever been on the edge of my seat at the opera, but I was for both of these... so inventive and FRIGHTENING. And there was full frontal male nudity in Erwartung... I thought some blue hairs might have a stroke, but it all went off *cough* swimmingly. And the naked guy got a standing ovation even though he didn't sing a note ;) Good times.

The following morning, Mum, brother and I all managed to have a civilized brunch together. Brother was even pleasant for a change. Mum was (naturally) delighted. Brother has finally achieved his raise at work after much battling, so maybe that accounted for his mood. He allowed Mum into his apartment (the first time since he moved in almost 5 years ago) and let her borrow some of his blessed books. It was a miraculous Sunday indeed! I thought I even heard angels singing in the distance...

I read through my spn_j2_bigbang author's story after Mum left and HOLY FUCK IS IT AWESOME! Now I'm all freaked out that I won't be able to get the pictures inside my head out in a sufficiently cool way to do it justice. Oh, Neuroses... there you are... *waves* Anyway, this is the exact opposite problem to the one I had last year, so thank goodness for small mercies. And reading it also made me have a little 'hallelujah' moment about style, which is always welcome (because I get wrapped up in my own head waaaay too much about style, see...).

Since I recently finished a weighty WIP, I'm a little at sixes and sevens as to which project I should pick up next. I still have plenty of WIPs that I can tackle, but they are all leaning towards the 'epic' side of the spectrum and I sorta want to do some smaller things in order to boost my sense of accomplishment (yeah, okay, that sounds selfish, but it really works as well. The big projects go smoother when you feel confident, and smaller projects help with the confidence. You'll just have to trust me there....) I'm toying with doing a post-series Forever story, now that I've finally caught up and *sniffle* it's officially been cancelled, but I'm not sure that's enough. Hmmm... I'll have to see what hits me in the head, I suppose.

And Playoff hockey is still ongoing because the NY Rangers managed to pull up before they hit the mountainside against the Washington Capitals. Now they are tilting at Tampa Bay, which has produced mixed results thus far (they've split the first two games). Still, entertaining hockey at the end of May is something to get happy about ;)

Wow... I wasn't planning on this being so random, but that's what you get when you have to leave off in mid-sentence every couple of minutes or so to answer weird client emails. I really ought to focus on one thing at a time right now. Yes. That sounds soooo sensible, doesn't it? Lemme give it a try for a while...

Later, possums ♥
