The New Lamb Album Is A Real Treat

Oct 17, 2014 12:12

Lamb is one of my favorite musical duos. They have a strange dynamic: Andy is very digital and construction-oriented, but Lou is organic, spiritual, and has a very tender quality to her vocals. When they first started making music together, their conflicts were very obvious, but over time they have settled into a more harmonious coexistence.

Their newest album, Backspace Unwind, was just released and it is one of their best efforts. It is more sparse and open than other albums allowing the music to 'breathe'. It also contains a lot of warm piano and string accompaniment to balance out Andy's love of synths. Finally, it's all spacey an' stuff, thematically speaking, which tickles me to no end ;) I loves me some space music ♥

The first single is "We Fall in Love":

This is a stripped down, piano-only version of my current favorite from the new album, "As Satellites Go By":

And because I can't mention these two without indulging in one of my all-time, Top 5 favorite songs, here's "Gorecki" from their 1996 release:
