Well, it's official, I have paid my monies and registered for the
Disneyland Half Marathon in September. There are no refunds.
As soon as I hit the "submit" button my chest started to constrict and my palms started to sweat, because oh, dear goddess, I'm committed, and I still can't run a comfortable mile yet, and what if I can't bring myself into shape, what if I fail.... *flails*
So, yeah, I'm still a little panicked. I keep trying to remind myself that I have eight months before the event and so plenty of time to build up my skill set as I ought to, plenty of time to take it bit by bit and get to where I need to be. I started off well last night with my first
Couch-to-5k training. I've mentioned it here before when I was in the think of my great-big plans from last year. With my sights and money set on Disneyland in the fall, I'm going to have to actually complete the training. (I've also found some other training schedules that could work for me once I complete the Couch-to-5k training.)
Also, I'm planning to do
Wharf to Wharf, a six-mile race, in July, which will be a good intermediate goal for me to meet and will give me a good taste of what it's like to be in a race environment before I get to Disneyland.
So, it's fine right? Everything is going to be fine. In fact, it's going to be better than fine, because I have the opportunity to accomplish something great for myself. Right? Right. *deep breath*
I just need to remember:
