“Omo… what are we playing?” Junsu asked and yelped as a table materialized out of the floor.
They joined Changmin on the floor as he shuffled the cards.
“You do that as if it matters…”Yunho said.
“I have to practice for when we play normal cards.” Changmin said and dealed, five cards for each person and he set the deck on the table. The cards turned white
“What the hell…”Junsu asked picking up the pure white cards and watching them flare a brilliant blue.
Yunho’s cards turned a deep red, Yoochun’s were white, Jaejoong’s glowed ultraviolet and Changmin’s were black.
“Okay… so why do they change color.”
“Well the game was originally played to make sure everyone at the table were what they said they were… and to let the intended mates get to know each other.” Changmin explain.
“So what happens now?”
“You ask a question.”Changmin said, “Any question you’ve ever want to know and your hand will tell you what to do… It’s kind of like a truth game with magic.”
“My cards are lighting up…”Jaejoong said watching words appear across his hand.
Believe…
Jaejoong bit his lip.
Yoochun’s hand were glowing next.
Comfort…
He looked up between the other four.
Love, appeared on Yunho’s cards in graceful black writing.
“Is everyone getting one word?” Yoochun asked.
Fight, appeared on Junsu’s cards and he nodded.
Changmin dropped his cards in surprise and they turned white instantly.
‘Confess…’
“So what happens now?” Junsu asked.
“You’re supposed to guess what the other person’s words were…”Yoochun said.
“And we can never guess Minnie’s…” Yunho said pouting as he drew a card, it turned red and he showed the card to everyone.
“They’re supposed to be hints to the person’s words we want to know the most.” Yunho replied.
“Okay…Will it tell us what the question is too?”
“Depends.” Yunho said, “It’s possible that the card you pull is a hint of your own which mean you’ll get another word and another hint. The cards react to the deepest questions of your heart…”
Junsu blinked and tilted his head. The writing on Yunho’s drawn card was black.
“You want know Min’s…”Yoochun asked.
“It just says family.”
“Is your word Find Min?” Yoochun asked.
Changmin shook his head, ”Aniyo.”
“I want a dictionary.” Jaejoong said pouting.
One appeared on the floor beside him.
“That’s cool… so does it work with food too?” Jaejoong asked.
“Sometimes…” Yunho said with a smile.
“Say…Let’s make a bet…” Changmin said putting his cards down.
“Mwot?” Yunho asked.
“If I can guess your word Yunho, you have to take Chunnie on a date… just the two of you.”
He raised an eyebrow and looked at Yoochun who blushed at the challenge. He smiled.
“Omo, Min, what are you doing?”
“Deal, but if we manage to guess your word you have to take Jaejoong on a date.”
Jaejoong’s eyes widened.
“Deal… good luck with that.”
Yoochun pulled a card and the writing was pure black.
“History…” Yoochun looked at Changmin, “ Discover?”
“Nope.”
Yoochun pouted as Jaejoong drew a card, the words glowed in a brighter ultraviolet.
‘Family.’
He bit his lip and he realized what his heart’s deepest question was: Ottoke?
The cards turned Technicolor and he dropped them in surprise.
“Wah… so quickly?” Changmin asked looking over at the Technicolor cards that glowed with the word: Known.
“Jaejoong’s the first?” Yoochun asked smiling at him.
“What… just happened?”
“It means you figured it out. You won your own heart’s game… It’ll take a minute for your cards to reset, sit tight.”
Junsu drew again and tilted his head. What was he supposed to do now?
‘Claim the Crown.’
His eyes widened and his cards lit up Technicolor as a realization dawned on him.
He was supposed to claim the crown of heaven.
“Wah~… Su, that was quick…” Changmin said drawing another card , the words in deep red.
‘Five…’
Changmin pouted titled his head.
“Love…” Changmin said looking up at Yunho who let his cards slip from his fingers angrily.
“How the hell do you do that?” Yunho asked pouting.
“I just know you too well…”
Yoochun pulled a card and looked up at Changmin.
‘Misunderstanding…’
“Clarify?”
“Nope.”
Changmin picked up a card and smirked.
‘Waterfall?’
“Comfort.”
Yoochun’s cheeks puffed as his cards lit up and he lost. Changmin grinned setting his cards down and laughed at the two.
“I win again it seems.”
“We will find out what your word is one day Min, I swear.”
“But until then I believe you two have a date to go on.” Changmin smiled and almost laughed at him.
Yoochun got up and left hurriedly.
“Chunnie~…” Yunho called softly.
He stopped and turned.
“We’ll go to the amusement park together tomorrow, alright?”
He nodded and kept walking. Changmin laughed at the lack of response.
“I swear Chunnie hasn’t changed a bit~!”
Yunho shook his head and stood. He kissed Changmin’ cheek and pat him on the head.
“Stop teasing Chunnie, not everyone has your blatant disregard for pecking order Minnie.”
Changmin stuck out his tongue at the departing man and the other raised his eyebrow at him.
“Has it been so long that you’ve forgotten the rules?”
He blinked and his eyes widened.
“Y-you… You wouldn’t.”
“I still owe you love, don’t push it.”
He bit his lip as the other walked away.
“What rule? He has rules? Should we know them?” Junsu asked curiously. Jaejoong scooted closer on the other side of Changmin.
“Uhm… well.. yes… yes… and yes…”
“So… are you going to tell us?”
“Their uhm…Well… you’d have to bond with us before any of the rules will have any effect on you…” Changmin explained.
“Does that mean you’re not going to tell us?”
“Not until you bond with us… trust me… it’s not as bad as you’d think it would be.”
“Why would it be bad at all?” Junsu asked.
“Maybe bad wasn’t the best word… uhm… weird? weird would be better right? It would be weird to be married to four people huh?” Changmin asked, understanding Jaejoong and Junsu’s more human sensibilities.
They were probably indoctrinated into monogamy.
“I don’t… know… Maybe?” Junsu asked.
“Don’t worry about it.” Changmin said with a smile, “ Pretty soon you won’t have a choice.”
“Wh-Why?” Jaejoong asked.
His face went serious and glanced at them both before standing up.
“Because pretty soon Yoochun and I won’t be able to give you up… although I highly doubt that time has not already passed… so I would suggest making your decisions quickly before we bite you on accident.”
Junsu and Jaejoong stared after him as he left down the corridor.
Ottoke?
-
Changmin lazed in the deep hotspring of the mannor looking up through the glass pane above him into the starlight and sighed.
It was growing and his time was wearing out. A week? Two weeks? A month at most?
How long before it started to show?
‘I can’t keep this secret forever…’
The door opened and Jaejoong walked in smiling at him.
“Changmin… I didn’t know you were in here. Mind if I join you?”
“Go ahead…just don’t be surprised when Junsu comes in.”
He slipped into the warm waters beside him, with only the tiny towel around his waist. He sighed at the serenity of the place and wished he could stay forever.
“You were serious… about… the bonding thing weren’t you?”
“When I said to make up your minds quickly?”
He nodded.
“Of course… I know speaking for myself… the time has already long passed for Junsu to resist me… however… knowing Chunnie… I think you’re in deeper than Junsu is.”
Jaejoong blushed, “Wh-Why do you say that?”
“Yoochun’s not that hard to figure out…. especially after a few millennia together… His emotions are always on his face, in his eyes… He’s in love with you… he fell hard…. And its not as though Yunho hasn’t noticed you either…”
“Wha-What do you mean?” Jaejoong asked.
“Well… if you’re bonded to Yoochun… then you’re bonded to Yunho as well so it would be best if Yunho actually liked you… which he does… he likes Junsu too and so you’re both basically already bonded to us…Just because he ranks higher than you.”
“But… But Junsu’s a Prince and-“
“Oh… you don’t know the universal pecking order since Yunho’s become Prince of the Other World Throne?…”
Jaejoong shook his head and Changmin smiled.
“Animals, Humans, the Vampires, elves, Immortals and Angels, then Yunho. Being a half breed makes you move up.”
“So… where are you?”
“I’m like… in between elves and immortals… yep you two out rank me biologically but I outrank Junsu in age… There’s a lot of stuff that goes along with this ranking, your age and so other things… then again an angel’s twenty is like a vampire’s 500 and some other things but don’t worry you’ll get used to it.”
They stared at him as if he’d grown another head.
Get used to it? They were barely getting it…
-
Yoochun fell asleep fairly easy for once. It was probably the overwhelming calm of Jaejoong’s scent wrapping around him and soaked into the pillows.
Maybe it was just that he was tired…
Didn’t matter, he had a date to be well rested for the next day… He guessed he could get used to it.
His face was flaring red by the time the sun rose and he finally fell asleep.
