House

Considering it's just a cold, I've been feeling pretty remarkably unwell today.  It probably didn't help that I joined Kate for an hour and a half (each way) jaunt up Birmingham-way.  I mostly dozed in the car, but between the car trip and a turn around IKEA I found myself desperate for our bed once we got home.  It's my own fault.  I could have stayed home, but I wanted to spend time with Kate and, besides, the builders were here and were probably loud.

Anyway, despite my pitiful sniffling, we managed to get some items we've been wanting/needing for quite a while.  Today, we got:

- a guest bed in the form of a futon sofa-bed
- a bench and a stool for storage in the bathroom
- cloth napkins
- glasses
- a cooking utensil holder
- a bar to hang towels on in the bathroom
- and a dish draining rack.

Yesterday Kate also got us a few sets of wall shelves for the office/guest room.  The result of all this consumerism is that when the kitchen is finally done, we can rearrange some furniture, install some new furniture, and actually PUT EVERYTHING AWAY.  As I mentioned before, we're finally getting our kitchen, though it's taking a bit longer than we thought it would.  However, the builders are making progress and, hopefully, we'll have a fully functional and finished kitchen in another week.  They're even laying the tiles and installing the units.  It feels like after the house has been sitting in limbo for a long while, everything is happening at once.  I can't even imagine how Kate (who's been living in and working on the house for close to 2 years) feels.

Oh! I almost forgot, we also got a reading chair for the bedroom from Lidl.  It looks just like an IKEA chair, but is cheaper.

So, yes, the house is moving along.
